On the 31st of May 2009 the naked body of young woman was found in the Albert Canal near Lanaye (near Visé in Belgium and Close to the Dutch border near Maastricht). The woman is estimated to be 14-24 years old, has an athletic build, half long blonde to light brown hair, pierced earlobes and false nails with a floral design on both little fingers (see picture). Stabbing was the cause of death. Two weight lifting weights (make "Alex") were used to sink her down, tight around her neck.

The Demorgen article states that first investigations result in an estimate that the body was in the water for 1-5 weeks, above is also a picture of the police at the scene.

Further article in het Nieuwsblad in Dutch: http://www.nieuwsblad.be/cnt/dmf31052009_076

This article mentions that the woman is of "European type" (caucasian). Both legs where tied together and her throat was slid.

There is also a video from the Belgian police (in Dutch):

The video mentions that she has been living in the Benelux region for several years already. The Benelux holds the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg, given that they say region some parts of Western Germany and Northeastern French might also be considered. As a child she lived in Eastern Europe.
The video mentions the floral designs on her ring fingers (instead of the other source mentioning pinky/little fingers).
The body shows several stabbing wounds (by knife).
The video includes sketches of two men who were seen shortly before the body was found on the "jaagpad": path/road directly next to the canal (see picture in previous post). The men might have something to do with the case, are between 20-30 years and both have slightly curled hair.
All other facts mentioned in the video are already listed in the previous post.

The same video in French:

I initially thought Nancy Köhn to be a potential match. See an article on her in Der Speigel (German). http://www.spiegel.de/panorama/justiz/vermisst-seit-drei-jahren-suche-nach-nancy-koehn-a-808576.html

Nancy Köhn disappeared between 12 and 18 March 2009 and was 26 years old. The time of disappearing fits quite well, as well as her face. There's however some facts conflicting the possibility that she is the Doe. She has lived all of her live near Hamburg (Germany), which is not really Eastern Europe, nor the Benelux. Also her car was found in Hamburg (although it is not impossible that her body was moved everything points to the Hamburg region). In the article it is mentioned that she is 100 kg (or 220 pounds), which is twice the weight of the Doe. I do however doubt this a bit as she is 155 cm tall (5'1) which would fit quite well with the unidentified female. Her hair is dark blonde shoulder long hair (almost exactly as the unidentified).

If Nancy would be 155 cm and 100 kg she would be quite overweight, something I don't see back in her pictures. So I also assume that is not her actual weight.

With 155 cm she is too small to be the found girl, I would think.

It sounds to me like this girl was born in Eastern Europe and then came to Belgium/the Netherlands to work as a prostitute. I haven't read anything suggesting that, but I have heard a lot of stories about women from Eastern Europe being lured to West Europe (to work decent jobs) and then instead are forced into prostitution. That could be why she wasn't reported missing. If she would be a Dutch or Belgium girl (with family in those countries) I think her family would have come forward. Maybe they live somewhere in Europe where they haven't had the opportunity to hear about this.

I agree with you on the weight of Nancy, based on the picture (of her face) I find that hard to believe.

I think that somebody from Eastern Europe working in the Benelux is a likely option. However, this does not have to be in prostitution. Since 2007 people from Slovenia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Slovakia, Lithuania and Poland can legally work in the Netherlands (I believe the same applies to Belgium). Also as prostitution is legal in the Netherlands and Belgium it is much less of a dangerous job, there are still dangers and illegal workers who get extorted, but less than in other parts of the world.

The main group of immigrants from Eastern Europe in the Netherlands and Belgium are from Poland. In 2009 the Netherlands had 38.100 females from Poland (most recent immigrants) and Belgium had 126.000 workers from Eastern Europe in 2013 (looking at the Dutch numbers I'd estimate around 70-80.000 in 2009. The type of work done by Eastern European immigrants is mostly hard labour (construction, cleaning, farm work) and of a temporary nature. Thus a situation where the family thinks the girl is still working in the Benelux and where the employer wouldn't miss the Doe because of the temporary nature is likely. Often the Eastern European immigrants live on campings and other places with a more temporary nature, mostly not on their own, as such those she was potentially living with could be the ones who were aware that she was missing first (and potentially also be those involved).

Another missing person where some of the facts make here interesting for this case, although also not too likely of a match is the Polish Izabela Procko who was living in France at the time of her disappearance in 2005. Her length at 165 cm is only a little bit of the 162 cm of the Doe. She had blue eyes. She was however pregnant at the time of her disappearance and aged 22 in 2005, which would make her 26 in 2009. She was supposed to meet her parents in Poland two days after they last heard from her on the 21st of July 2005. The age and the 4 year earlier disappearance make this an unlikely match in my opinion. However it was the case which struck me because of her going missing in France.

Case information on: http://www.zaginieni.pl/profile/?o=3810 (English, seems to be a good site to search for Polish missing)
Article giving a bit more details on the disappearance: http://zaprasza.net/a_y.php?article_id=9662 (in Polish).

This case reminds me of the so-called "Rozenmeisje" (Rose-girl) She was found in 1996 in Lottum, in the Netherlands near the border with Germany.
She remained unidentified until her 'picture' and description were shown on German and Polish tv. That would have been around 2010.

Turned out she had left her family in Poland to live in Germany where she worked illegally (meaning she wasn't registered and did not pay taxes). At the time of her disappearance the family had not heard of her for a while. If I remember well, she had not wanted to stay in contact with them.

Is there any further information about the false nails?

Is there any further information about the false nails?
There is picture in the initial post which shows one of the nails. Not sure if you missed it or not but to me it seems that holds a lot of information on the false nails.

Or do you mean information such as where the nails were made/bought or whether they are homemade? Maybe somebody here could help out with that a bit.

I meant the info about the origin of those false nails.

Did a google-search, but the art of false nails and decoration has apparently made a quantum leap since 2009. I had some catching up to do. IMHO one would have to sit still and not move for hours while a nail artist would paint your nails with various colors, glitter and designs, but boy was I mistaken! you can buy those sets ready made, or buy things like dried flowers for your false nails, doodle till the result is good and ready and then paste them on your fingers.

So this pattern is probably a sticker with the glitter included, but in 2009 that may well have been special.

First I want to thank everybody in this thread for giving attention to this poor girl and for the time you put into her. She is already "with me" for a long time, you know what I mean.

About the nails. I think in this case they could be special, made by a nail boutique, because she did only two. It's seems to me that she also has French manicure (pink and white) Could also be a "money thing" why she did just two. Although I searched in advertising material of nail boutiques in the neighborhood where she was found, I could not find one with a recognizable style (like hers) so far. In those days you could already buy the stickers for your whole hand, also with the glittering thing. Why do only two? Maybe a nail specialist could see the difference. What also comes to mind is that the pinky nails where used to give other people (customers?) coke. I somehow think she was a sextrafficing victim. At least she took very good care of her body and wanted (or had to) to look good. What stands out for me is one of her ears. You would think this could be a good identifier....

Bumping.....this is a reconstruction the Belgium police once posted but took it off of their side again. Look at the distinctive ear.

NCMEC had her listed but dropped the case. Some of the original links given are dead. Might have been identified, but nothing in the news confirms this.

Interesting Gourami that NCMEC dropped the case. I wonder why. She is still up on the Dutch and Belgian unidentified persons site. So I don't think she is identified, or it must have been very very recent and the didn't moderate the site yet.

The link of the Belgian Police in the first post no longer works.

The new link is:
Onbekend meisje

The location is mentioned as "Wezet".
The Dutch police calls this place "Visé".

It's the same place.

Again a strange story, almost exactly at the spot this girl was found....

Moordpoging te Visé

On Tuesday, April 26, 2016, shortly after 7:00 pm, a thirty-year-old lady was hit by a vehicle voluntarily twice.

The facts took place on the towpath along the left bank of the Meuse, near the rue Basse Hermalle, a few hundred meters from the hospital 'Saint Joseph de Hermalle Sous Argenteau'.
A vehicle coming from Visé in the direction of Oupeye, a lady standing near the wall along the Meuse has hit the left front flank.
The vehicle was then driven backwards to relocate the victim who was now entitled. In this second collision, the rear window of the vehicle was crushed.
The victim was badly injured.

The wanted vehicle is probably of the type sedan, bordeaux or purple. The rear window of the vehicle is shattered and the vehicle is probably damaged at the front left.

On the other hand, a blue, lined shoe of the brand 'CROCS' was found in a rubbish bin not far from the place of the facts. This shoe belonged to the victim. The investigators are looking for the person who found this shoe and left it in the trash can.

If you witnessed these facts, if you have seen a similar vehicle or if you are the person who put the shoe in the dustbin, please contact the investigators.

Thanks for posting this story! If I understand this correctly, the driver ran over the victim twice on purpose? Also, do the police know the identity of the victim or did they just estimate she was about 30 years old?

Hmmm. Crocs were not widely worn by regular people in the Netherlands at that point in time afaik. I only knew American expats to wear them, and also nurses and doctors.

What what what?

This happened in Belgium, the victim is probably Belgian, though this is not mentioned.
She is 30 years of age, was hit twice by the car, managed to get up after the first hit, and then the driver reversed and hit her again, she was gravely wounded but the description of the car is probably hers (not mentioned either, but no mention of other witnesses.)
The shoe that was found belonged to the victim, the police is searching for the person who found the shoe and put it in a trash can.

I hope this helps and I wonder what all this has to do with a young woman who was found seven years earlier, six kms downstream in the canal, and who was stabbed to death and her body was held down with lifting weights.
