A Silver Alert was issued overnight for John and Jean Bickerstaff. They were last seen by their family at their home on Mountain Hill Road in the Cedarville section of Plymouth around 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

They are believed to be in their blue 2007 Toyota Camry with Massachusetts plates 3666AF.

Their family says the couple generally does not leave the Cedarville area, except to occasionally go to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth for doctor appointments; to Kingston to go shopping at the Independence Mall, and to the Shops at 5 in Plymouth (Kohls Department Store).

What are the weather and road conditions around that area like now?

Do they have a cell phone?

Have they checked local hospitals?

90-year-old John Bickerstaff is a white male with a full head of grey hair, stands about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs about 145 pounds. Police say he uses hearing aids, wears glasses and has early signs of dementia.

Jean Bickerstaff, 87, is a white female with white hair, stands approximately 5 feet 10 inches and weighs about 160 pounds.

Oh my goodness, this is worrisome. It seems better that they are together though. Many elderly couples work and think better together. I'm worried that the driver had a medical emergency. Praying they are found very soon.

I hope this couple is located quickly. They look so happy together in that photo.

still missing :(

Police searched parking lots at the hospital as well as the mall, the shopping center and a restaurant they frequent in Sagamore without success.

Police said the Bickerstaffs do not have cellphones or a GPS system, but John Bickerstaff does wear a Lojack bracelet designed to help locate people if they wander from home. The State Police air wing identified a possible signal from the bracelet in Manomet Thursday night. Police flooded an area around Bartlett Road after getting the signal, but police ultimately determined the signal might have been coming from another person in the area who has a similar tracking bracelet. The air wing continued searching for the couple's vehicle until 3 a.m.

Local police along with deputies from the Plymouth County Sheriff's Department searched throughout the night.

In addition to issuing alerts for the couple on social media, police put out a reverse 911 call to everyone in Plymouth Friday morning.

Police also called in two drones, one from the sheriff's department and another from Brewster Ambulance Service, to search, beginning with the wooded neighborhood around the couple's home.

Police have also been searching of the couple in wooded areas using four-wheel-drive vehicles.

Police searched without success in areas where people have gotten stuck or lost in the past. That includes a closed road that connects South Plymouth to Wareham. Several people have gotten lost there after following bad advice from GPS systems in recent years.

Police also searched a dirt road off Herring Pond Road in Cedarville, where an elderly man was stuck in his vehicle for three days a year ago.
