Police on Tuesday were investigating the killing of internationally-known Toronto hairdresser and beauty company executive Fabio Sementilli, who was found beaten and stabbed at a Los Angeles home.

Detectives did not immediately provide a possible motive. They said his black 2008 Porsche 911 Carrera was missing from the home.

"This is horrifying, it's very horrifying," said Eric Walker, a Woodland Hills resident. "It makes you want more protection for yourself, cause usually around here we walk, everybody walks."

Anyone with information about the crime was asked to call Det. Steve Castro of the Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Bureau Homicide division at 818-374-1925.

Hills in the Valley have been being robbed seemingly more and more lately.

I havent seen them mention if his house was actually robbed. I do see they say he had security cameras

Fox is reporting that the home was ransacked :(

Sadly, Fabio is a friends cousin. The family is devastated of course. So sad.

ETA: just say dotr already mention the Fox article. I guess they were either robbing him blind or looking for something maybe?

So sorry to hear of Fabio's murder and your close connection to him dumpater. It's surprising to me that an area covered with so many cameras has been plagued by so many robberies & burglaries. Hopefully the CCTV will help LE locate the perp(s) asap.

In the world of high-end hairstyling, Fabio Sementilli was a rock star.
A gregarious father of three, the former Toronto resident was found murdered by his wife, Monica, and one of his daughters outside his home in a Los Angeles-area gated community.

Born in Italy, Sementilli, 49, grew up in Toronto and maintained close ties to the city.
Joey DeVilla, who went to school with Sementilli in the 1980s at De La Salle College in the Avenue Rd.-St. Clair Ave. area, told the Toronto Sun his friend ditched school in Grade 12 to become a styling superstar.

"Fabio Sementilli was directly targeted in this case," Hayes said. "Monica Sementilli and Robert Baker were involved in an intimate relationship for a year and half."
Monica Sementilli and Baker were charged Friday with capital murder with a special circumstance of murder for financial gain, making them eligible for the death penalty. They are being held without bail.
Police say a third person was involved in the plot, but they still don’t know who that person is, and that they remain at large.

DNA gathered at the crime scene and in the vehicle matched Baker’s, Hayes said. Additional DNA collected at the scene belonged to an unknown person who could not be found in state and national databases, Hayes said.

Baker's DNA was in the system because he was previously convicted in 1993 of lewd and lascivious conduct with a minor and is a registered sex offender, according to Hayes.
