Police say when the boy refused to get into the man’s car, the driver tried to entice the boy with money.

The child ran home and got his father, who went outside and saw the suspect vehicle. Police were called but a search of the area failed to turn up any sign of the vehicle.
The suspect is described as white, approximately 65-years-old with grey hair and a full, white beard. He was driving a four-door grey or silver vehicle and the licence plate may contain the letters ‘BTTV’.

Durham police have released a composite sketch of a man who tried to lure a child into a vehicle in Brooklin.

The man is described as white, about 65-years-old with grey hair and a full white beard. The vehicle is described as a four-door grey or silver sedan. The licence plate might contain the letters BTTV but it doesn’t match the make and model of the vehicle that was seen at the time. Anyone with information can call police at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1847 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

This may be a different luring situation, but posting this one from March 9 2017, just in case - and the most recent attempts in other areas of the GTA too, not necessarily the same perp.

March 9, 2017 London police are investigating after an unknown man reportedly attempted to lure a 9-year-old boy into his vehicle.
On Wednesday between 6pm and 6:30pm, the boy was approached in the area of Meadowlands Way and Callingham Dr. by a vehicle being driven by a man he didn’t know. Police say the man attempted to coax the boy into his vehicle, but the child ran away and told an adult of the encounter.
The driver of the vehicle is described as a white male, 20-30 years old, tall, with short black hair that is spiked on top, and a beard around his chin area with no moustache

The vehicle is described as a grey, newer GMC SUV, with black luggage rails on top

Warning issued after children approached by man in car
Police have issued a safety alert after several children were approached by a man in a car near Sheppard and Progress avenues in Scarborough.
“We have some disturbing incidents of a man or men either luring or trying to abduct children,” said Const. David Hopkinson.
Around 3 p.m. on Feb. 10, the man drove up to two nine-year-old boys near Burrows Hall Boulevard and Purvis Crescent and asked them to get in his charcoal or metallic grey sedan, police said.
The boys ran away and the man drove off.
Around 8 a.m. Tuesday, a man allegedly approached two boys, aged 10, and a girl, 5, in the same area and offered them a ride in his car — which the kids said was a small, silver, four-door vehicle.
We want the kids to walk in groups,” Hopkinson said. “We don’t want them talking to strangers, especially not getting into a car with a stranger. And when this happens, it is very important that you go to an adult or your parents, maybe a school official. Have them contact police so we can investigate.”

This is horrifying for everyone living in these areas - children and parents alike. Hoping someone has the presence of mind and or opportunity to capture a future incident on their phone if they are confronted by this person - it will make all the difference to everyone.

A tough thing to ask of a child.

[h=1]Police looking for potential sex offender after 10-year-old assaulted in Malvern[/h]

The girl was walking along a trail near McLevin Avenue and Malvern Street when she was allegedly assaulted by the man. Police say the girl was then able to kick the many away and run to safety.

The incident marked the fourth time in the last six weeks that children have been approached or assaulted by a strange man in the Malvern area but Const. Allyson Douglas-Cook tells CP24 that investigators do not believe any of the cases are linked.

Police previously issued a public safety alert about the three previous incidents on March 11.

Noting another recent attempted luring of boy inside a library.
Seemingly unrelated to the cases posted on this thread, but an odd coincidence, imo.

Started another thread which includes pic of alleged suspect.

Police patrol Malvern area after several children approached

rbbm.
The most recent incident happened on Wednesday. A man allegedly approached two children, aged four and six, who were walking near Neilson Road and McLevin Avenue. He asked them if they needed a walk to school.

The children said the man was in his mid-40s, with a dark brown complexion and wearing black clothes.

Officers from the Community Response Unit have been patrolling the area on foot and bike, especially during school hours. They are also canvassing for witnesses.

Police have not determined whether the same man is responsible, but they haven’t ruled it out.

Ugh! This is so scary. This is one of my worst nightmares. As someone working with kids, im terrified of someone coming into the school yard and picking a child up. We share the school yard with a park, so its not closed off.
I hope they find these people.
