According to the affidavit, when deputies entered the home at 425 Shillington Drive, the suspect Clint Loehrlein, 54, had a knife. Sheriff Dave Wedding said deputies told Loehrlein to drop it, and that's when he began cutting himself. The affidavit says the deputies used force to disarm Loehrlein. He was taken to St. Mary's for his injuries.

Wow, that's horrible. What a terrible thing for his twin daughters to have to see as well. Not that it matters, but they are stunningly gorgeous.

Mr. Loehrlein is scheduled to appear in court next Monday.

At last check, Loehrlein remains under guard in the hospital while he recovers from self-inflicted injuries.

Man is still under guard in hospital. Motive unknown. Says he does not remember what happened. There will be no bond.

Multiple 911 calls had been received.

When first responders and officers arrived, they found 52-year old Sherry Loehrlein, dead from a gunshot wound to the back.

Twin daughters are still in hospital with serious injuries.

There was a lot of blood in the home.

It happened at a home in the Shadow Bluff Estates around 7 a.m. in the 400 block of Shillington Drive.

Police say they received the first of two 911 calls from a neighbor's home. According to the police report, Cynthia Loehrlein escaped from her home and was able to get to a neighbor's home, who called 911.

Cynthia told that neighbor she had been shot and stabbed by her father, Clint Loehrlin, 54-years-old, of Evansville. Her twin sister, Nicole Loehrlein, made the second call to 911 from inside the family's home.

I didn't see at first that one of the twins was gravely injured. Shot multiple times and stabbed as well. In the hospital. How crazy. Wonder if it was a psychotic break or something.

one daughter called 911 from closet. http://www.vanderburghsheriff.com/2017-nr-010

The Loehrleins’ twin daughters, in their 20s, were also injured in the attack. One daughter, Cynthia Loehrlein, was shot multiple times as well as stabbed, sustaining serious injuries, according to Wedding. The other daughter, Nicole, was shot in the arm. Her injuries were not life-threatening. Both live at the home with their parents.

There was no history of police being called to that house. Electronic court records did not show any prior convictions or charges filed against Clint Loehrlein in Indiana, Kentucky or federal court.

Odd that there has been no prior criminal history.

Could be. I was just thinking that for someone to murder another person there is usually a criminal history.

Exactly. Someone doesn't escalate from a calm, rational personality to a violent murderer just like that. Often domestic violence exists for years but is kept a family secret until something like this happens.

thank you to whoever was wise enough to change the thread title. :tyou:

I know some people that know this family. Outstanding people and everyone is taken aback by what occurred because they are were well respected.

The oldest daughter has been on a forum explaining to people that it wasn't drugs, (previous) domestic abuse, etm.

The fact he can't remember doing anything is rather odd.
Wonder is something supernatural is at play.

My step father murdered my mother. Ironically, we lived in Vandergurgh County where the Loehrlein family lives. My tragedy happened a long time ago. But wanted to say that it was similar to this case as my step father had no history of abusing my mother. He, too, went to his grave not remembering what ghastly crime he committed. The Loehrlein sisters are one of my prayers. Losing their mother is a terrible loss, but loving the person who murdered her, is a feeling few people ever experience. How do these girls shift their thinking from loving dad to murderer of their mother? I am so very sorry what they are going through. It's complex and unimaginable grief that they have essentially lost both parents.

thank you for sharing, Margotrita.
