Details of Disappearance
Randi was last seen between 11:30 p.m. on February 15 and 12:30 a.m. on February 16, 1992. He was asleep on the living room floor of his family's residence at in the 300 block of East Rochelle Avenue in Las Vegas, Nevada. Randi's family held a birthday party for his father, Mike Evers, during the evening at the home. Randi apparently disappeared during the party and has never been seen again. He was wearing a black shirt and black pants with a blue diamond design on the knees at the time he disappeared.
Randi's family speculates that he was kidnapped, but authorities initially suspected some of Randi's family members of being involved in his case. Randi's father and his stepmother, Tina Evers, did not participate in the search for him. Mike had to be literally dragged out of bed when police told him Randi was missing. Neither Mike nor Tina showed very much interest in the case.
Tina's alibi of her whereabouts at the time her stepson disappeared reportedly showed numerous small inconsistencies. She claimed she, Mike, and several of their friends left the party at 11:30 p.m. to go to the Gold Coast, a local casino. They left Randi alone in the company of an adult guest at the party who had passed out on the living room couch. When the group returned at approximately 3:30 a.m., Randi was missing. An extensive search of the surrounding area failed to turn up any clues to his whereabouts.
Mike and Tina had another son and then left the area four years after Randi was last seen. They moved to southern California, saying they wanted to be closer to their friends. They divorced sometime after that. There have been no reported problems with their other two children. Police say Mike and Tina were not very cooperative in the investigation into their child's disappearance but they did not try to avoid authorities.
There have been many theories about what caused Randi to disappear, including that he was sold; killed accidentally or intentionally by his father and/or stepmother after Mike's birthday party broke up; or was abducted by a stranger, a family friend, or by his biological mother. None of these theories have been substantiated, however. Randi is described as a typical three-year-old who enjoyed playing with his bicycle and his toy guns at the time that he disappeared.
A Nevada grand jury was given evidence by investigators some time after Randi disappeared, but indictments were not handed down. Randi's case remains open and unsolved. Nearly everyone involved, excepting the investigators, has left the Las Vegas area in the years following his disappearance. Due to the confusion as to what happened to him, Randi's disappearance is being investigated as a Non-Family Abduction.

How sad! The father's and stepmother's lack of concern about their son certainly seems suspicious to me.

This does not sound like an abduction yet but the mom here was a step mom so where was the "real" mom?

I have to wonder at the story of going to the local casino. If that place had security cams, and I would think such places usually do, then there should be video available to establish who was there and at what time they were there.

My first question is:Was that video ever looked at?
After that I wonder at the alibi of the casino. It sounds like it could be a deliberate attempt to establish an alibi.

It is possible that the whole group at the party knows what happened and for some reason thinks it best to keep quiet about what happened. Maybe an accident happened. I wonder if the boy was given alcohol to drink or maybe some drugs and then died of alcohol poisioning or from drug reaction. Any other method of death (other than perhaps strangulation or possibly electrocution) would have probably showed up some evidence such as blood cast off splatter or gun powder residue and that would have been found out.
I wonder who helped stash the body. Was there an unaccounted for guest that night, someone on purpose never mentioned to L.E.?

I also wonder what the phone records of those involved showed for that night?

She claimed she, Mike, and several of their friends left the party at 11:30 p.m. to go to the Gold Coast, a local casino. They left Randi alone in the company of an adult guest at the party who had passed out on the living room couch. When the group returned at approximately 3:30 a.m., Randi was missing. An extensive search of the surrounding area failed to turn up any clues to his whereabouts.

I wonder if any of the several friends can corroborate this story or did they say something different?

This seems like one of those cases that really could come to a conclusion IMO. I wonder if a little more questioning would be the answer here, not to family member but to other witnesses.

Just reading this case on Charleyproject----- the dad had to be dragged out of bed? Makes me sick! :(

I remember when this happened and have never forgotten about this little boy. The parents were very disinterested in searching for this boy. They moved to CA very shortly after the disappearance. It was shocking how little concern there was for finding this boy by ANY family members. There were never any traces of the boy or what could have happened to him. It's very very sad. I hope someone some day comes forward and talks. I'll never forget this poor baby boy.

His father and stepmom sound more than suspicious..If they haven't hurt him themselves I think they were definitely involved in his disappearance somehow.

Poor Randi.

Are investigators really close to solving this disappearance? That would be incredible

A mysterious disappearance 23 years ago may finally be resolved by Metro Police detectives.

Three-year-old Randi Evers vanished from his family's home in 1992 and was most likely kidnapped, police say. A massive search and investigation failed to find the youngster, and many assumed Randi must have been murdered.

But the lead investigator on Metro's cold case team told the I-Team it's entirely possible Randi is still alive.

The detective tracked down practically everyone associated with the case, including every relative or half sibling he could find. He plugged all of that DNA information into his databases and recently got a hit. Randi, he said, is most likely alive.

Wow. This is so incredible. I can't believe this detective is solving so many cases. I hope other departments start doing what he is doing. I wish he would have named the solved cases. But most incredible is how close he is to solving Randi's disappearance!! I lived here when this happened and have always wondered what happened to this little boy. I am shocked to hear that he may still be alive. I can't even begin to imagine what the motive was for disappearance and who is behind it. I guess the parents?!? Anyways it states there will be another report on Monday. Can't wait to see what that says! This is really exciting!

The step-mother is interviewed in this article and refers to Randi as "my son". I know she is the step-mother but Randi's disappearance probably did have a huge effect on her and I don't think she was involved.

I agree, I dont think she knows what happened to him but if Holley is correct in his latest findings with the possible DNA match that would be amazing! I'll keep popping back to this thread to see if there's been an update.

I wonder what piece of "forensic evidence" is needed before this story is broken open? Anyone have an idea on what they could mean by that?

Bumping for Randi. The quote is from the story done in late May.

The detective tracked down practically everyone associated with the case, including every relative or half sibling he could find. He plugged all of that DNA information into his databases and recently got a hit. Randi, he said, is most likely alive.

The LV detective said he was waiting for one more piece of evidence to break the case open. He also said in the interview that he planned on retiring in a few months. I hope he did not do the later before he got that evidence. I fear this case could end up in a box in a store room, after he leaves, until the new detective decides to work on some cold cases.
