One detective said that the human race hasn't invented words yet to describe what they found in the trailer of 57-year-old William Charles Thomas.

Investigators say Thomas was a handyman at the trailer park where he lives. After working in one of the trailers, the new owner discovered a piece of plywood with intimate, hand-written details about the sexual assault of two children, ages three and 6 1/2. That discovery led to the investigation.

The [court] documents gave the following account:

The owner found plywood with "handwritten graphic details about someone sexually assaulting two very young girls," identified as the daughters of people who formerly lived at Midway Village.

A search of Thomas' trailer found at least 1,000 images of naked children, child *advertiser censored*, adult *advertiser censored* with images of children superimposed on it, hundreds of pairs of girls' underwear, and vulgar and graphic drawings and writings.

Some of the writings documented Thomas' molesting children as young as 3 since he was in his 20s, back in the 1970s.

“I fear we may never know the scope of this man’s predation,” Weintraub said.

Thomas allegedly admitted to some assaults, reports the station. He ran a business called Thomas Construction, which authorities believe allowed him to access to hundreds of homes and enabled him to identify and abuse his victims. Investigators say he indicated he would steal the underwear when he did work in homes, and then would stalk the victims, the station reports.

Thomas has lived for about 10 years in the trailer park where police allege some of the assaults occurred, the district attorney’s office said.

“The majority of victims we identified thus far are individuals he came to know when he managed to ingratiate himself into their parents’ lives,” Schorn says. “He apparently comes across as a very nice guy and very helpful — he was a handyman by trade — and slowly gained their trust and then in light of that trust, was able to access their children.”

Thomas has not yet entered a plea and is scheduled to next appear in court on March 15. He will be represented by the public defender’s office, but a specific attorney has not yet been appointed for him.

Authorities even found baby dolls he had allegedly altered to feature life-like genitalia, outfitting them with plastic hoses inside, she says.

Police also found a prominently displayed handwritten note near a group of toys and games in one area of Thomas’ trailer specifying the “rules” of the room: that all boys and girls in that space must be naked, according to an affidavit of probable cause obtained by PEOPLE.

Police in Falls Township, Pennsylvania, began investigating Thomas in November, according to court records. That’s when the new manager of the Midway Village Trailer Park, where Thomas lived and worked, told police a contractor had found sexually explicit writings on a piece of plywood on their property, Schorn says.
