Grand Rapids police say Jamel Marcus Parker, 31, is involuntarily missing. Officers*say he was last seen between 3 a.m. and 3:30 a.m., running away from the 1500 block of Broadway Avenue NW.

Relatives say Parker disappeared Sunday morning after a party. Family members filed a missing person’s report with police Sunday evening.

“We believe that Mr. Parker is in danger,” said Sgt. Terry Dixon. “We’re concerned for his welfare.”

Dixon wouldn’t explain the reason for the concern, only calling the disappearance ‘involuntary.’

What Parker was running from Sunday morning and what happened in those early hours is still unclear. Dixon said investigators are actively looking into the events of that morning, but wouldn’t reveal what they found.

Another young man last seen running away.

Police said Parker was last seen running from the 1500 block of Broadway Avenue NW around 3 a.m. Sunday.

Gray said he was with friends that night, but was anxious in the hours beforehand. She’s worried he ran into trouble with the group.

“I do believe that there was some altercation that went on, and that led Jamel to believe that he was in danger,” she said. “We don’t know — was he threatened? Did he get threatened to put him on that edge? He ran in terror.”

“His cell phone was turned off a little after the altercation,” she added.

The day after Parker disappeared, a shoe was found near the train tracks just blocks from the neighborhood where Parker was last seen. Police aren’t sure if it’s his — but the discovery prompted river searches by water and by air on Tuesday.

Those came up empty.

Family and friends returned to that same area Saturday, and expanded their search to cover several more miles on the city’s west side. Their efforts came up empty as well.

Its been three weeks since Jamel Marcus Parker was last seen.*As police continue to investigate Parker's disappearance, his loved ones are asking for answers from those who last saw him.

"I just want someone to come forward who knows, because people know what happened, they know what happened to Jamel," Jamie Gray, Parker's sister, told WZZM 13 on Sunday, March. 5.

Jamel Parker, 31, was last seen on February 12 at about 3:00am, running away from the 1500 block of Broadway NW. Police say that family contacted them later that day. The following day, a shoe was found by the Grand River near Ann Street NW, but police have not been able to confirm is the shoe was Parker’s.

Parker is described as being about 5’5″ tall, weighing about 180lbs., and has a scar near his right temple. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, black sweatshirt, blue jeans and black Air Force One shoes.

"Dive team pulls body from Grand River"

"The Kent County dive team pulled a body from the Grand River Friday.

Grand Rapids Police say they were called to the 1500 block of Scribner Avenue NW near the Kent County Road Commission just after before 2:00 p.m.

According to the Grand Rapids Police Department, when crews arrived they found a man floating in the river."
