The discovery was made at about 3:25 p.m. Friday off a hiking trail on Rocky Point Middle Country Road.

“I guarantee it was there a long time, over five years,” the hunter who made the discovery said. “There was no flesh, no hair, you could see fatigue cracks in the skull from being dried in the sun.”

Wondering if this could be related to other LISK cases? I'm not sure of the area....Whether it's closer in proximity, etc.

My first thought was of Robert Mayer. Do we know if the remains are male or female ?? I know the opinion is "over five years" but there were drought and harsh winter conditions on eastern LI. Those factors may contribute to the initial look of the remains ??? FWIW - a family may have the answer to a missing loved one.

I wonder if this skull found in Aug 2016 has something to do with the skull found the Hunter Found in the woods in Middle Island the other day. I have tried to look for any further information on this one but there is nothing..

RONKONKOMA, NY – A man riding his bike in the woods off the Long Island Expressway Saturday afternoon found a human skull, police said.
According to Suffolk County Police, the man riding on his mountain bike north of Express Drive North when he found the skull and called police at about 12:15 p.m.
Police did not specify where exactly the skull was found, but the westbound LIE service road was shut at Terry Road during the afternoon.

Police believe the remains had been there for an extended period, police said. A positive identification has not been made.
Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating.

Can you find the namus for the skull? I saw one recently that appeared to be just a mandible that I thought was the Ronkonkoma find

Unfortunately The only information I have found was the news articles and nothing after that at all. That is why I posted this here because I thought someone might know.. Plus I thought it might be a connection

I'm guessing that this UID will probably have a sketch in about another month because that was about the timeline for the last UID found in Suffolk County. I'm thinking this new legislation (which I believe has already been posted elsewhere) might be why new cases are being added so quickly now!

In the meantime I can't help but try to look for matches for this UID... here's one:

If we can assume this photo was taken by the hunter and provided to Josh Zeman... And that Long Island isn't a bastion of critters that like disturb human remains.

Did the hunter believe the corpse to have been disturbed by animal activity? If not, does anyone else find it odd that other than two set of molars and one set of pre-molars are still attached to the skull? Even if the deceased had advanced tooth decay, wouldn't the canines and incisors still be attached, if the estimated time of death was only 6 months previous? And tooth decay is arbitrary, so in my mind, this seems is less than systematic. Also, could anyone tell me if the mandible was found along with the skeleton?

I was wondering the same thing. According to this site: http://www.aftermath.com/content/human-decomposition

"Several weeks after death — nails and teeth fall out."

The postmortem interval listed in NamUs as 6 months sort of surprised me after seeing the photo and reading the hunter's observations:

"'
I guarantee it was there a long time, over five years,' the hunter who made the discovery anonymously told The New York Post. 'There was no flesh, no hair, you could see fatigue cracks in the skull from being dried in the sun.'"

In searching for matches I'm basing things on the ME's findings.

I'm trying to determine the actual location of where this UID was found. NamUs says 128 Rocky Point Road, Middle Island but there is not a sump there. The closest sump area is off of Bailey Rd behind the strip mall.

This inactive well field is on property owned by SCWA.

In searching more about this Bailey Rd. Well Field I found a very interesting website with meticulously archived records about allege fraud concerning water quality testing in Suffolk County http://www.gfxtechnology.com/Rn-Fraud.html

If you look on google street view this well field is gated (gates closed in 2013 shot, open in 2012)

For years there has been speculation that LISK could be some sort of public utility worker who could go undetected pulled over at dump sites. With this dump site being gated, I attempted to research SCWA personnel lists at these sites with no success (as well as reading old board meeting minutes and newsletters):
http://rochester.nydatabases.com/database/state-employee-salaries http://seethroughny.net/payrolls

Interestingly, but probably not related is that the strip mall next to the well field to the West of this site on Rocky Point Rd is owned by an East Hampton mogul accused of having an affair with Martha Stewart http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2426647/Socialite-47-tells-26-000-MONTH-allowance-cut-father-told-mom-affair-Martha-Stewart.ht

Some more specific location details could be very helpful here. I could be way off -maybe the gate is no longer there. If this UID was found in this area and it were still gated, that could direct our focus to a limited pool of individuals who would have had access to it, recently!

I doubt very much that skull is only 6 months old after a winter has passed. JMO.
I already expressed my opinion on another link about this photo. I do not believe this is the actual crime photo, this photo came from the NY POST online site not the actual newspaper, it is not an Associated Press photo that has the stamp of integrity. The NY Post is one step away from the National Enquirer. No other news agencies ran this photo except the Post online. SC LE did not release any crime photos to the press. I believe it is a stock photo that the NY Post pulled just for their online site.

The NY Post named the photo - SKULL-MANNERVILLE.jpeg ALl you have to do is right click on then select inspect.
Tell me Picture Snatcher why would the Post name this photo "MANNERVILLE" exact spelling they used if it was the Middle Island Skull?

Middle Island is Over 10 miles from Manorville, why would they name it "SKULL MANNORVILLE", I will tell you why, IT'S A STOCK PHOTO.

I thought kt was a stock photo at first, but i did a reverse image search and fhe only source was new New York post. I mean those can sometimes not pull up everything but usually it pulls up if its a stock photo IMO I have been searching various skull related stock images and not found out either, so idk
