Police expand search for missing wife in Arundel, husband's death considered suspicious

Maine State Police say they'll expand the search for a missing Arundel woman Thursday morning all while investigating the death of her husband.

Police are calling the mans death suspicious.

Police are still searching for 65-year-old Sue Kim Coito who they say has Alzheimer's.

The couple had not been seen or heard from since early last weekend.

State Police evidence technicians and detectives worked all day Thursday inside the home where Matthew Coito’s body was found.
An autopsy was conducted Thursday at the State Medical Examiner’s Office, but the results are not being released at this time.
Anyone who may have seen Sue Kim Coito in the past five days is asked to call the state police barracks in Gray at 657-3030.

Such a sad story. What is going on here? I hate saying this, but do they think she was involved in his death? Why not release the autopsy results? It seems like if he had died from natural causes they would just say so.

The Maine Warden Service found the body of Sue Kim Coito, 65, about 375 yards in the woods behind her home on Campground Road just after 8 a.m. Friday.

Sigh. Just tragic all around. My heart goes out to their family.

Homicide has not been ruled out. Previously, officials said his death was suspicious. There was no evidence of a break-in, and both of the Coitos’ vehicles were accounted for. There were weapons in the house.

The death scene in the woods appeared consistent with other deaths involving people with memory problems. The game warden said she was found deep in the woods, in a swampy area covered in patches of snow.

When Matthew was found in his kitchen, he already had been dead for about three days. Their dog was found alive in the home.
