Inordinate number of murders Del Valle, TX. Del Valle is 7 miles east of Austin. It is suburban and rural in character. The crimes have occurred in eastern Travis County and western Bastrop County in the Del Valle area. There have been an unusually high number of homicides in this area recently.

Most of these have not been solved.

Police have speculated that these may be cartel related.

Drug-related was my first thought. Drug activity has moved into rural/small-town areas, away from the scrutiny of LE. I hope all of these cases are solved soon and it will become a safer area.

I live in the Austin area and my husband visits Del Valle as an armored courier. It's a very economically depressed area, despite all the growth Austin as a whole is experiencing. I'm leaning toward the drug/cartel theory in most of these cases, but I had hoped the unidentified remains would have held answers to some of our missing persons cases.
