- Estimated 50 years of age
- Short, stout build
- Hazel eyes
- Brown hair streaked with grey
- Likely en route to Fayetteville or Fairmont, NC
- Carried a cheap suitcase, a purse, and 26 cents in cash
- Had two addresses on her person: "Lewis Hazlewood, 510 Rutherford Street, Greenville, S.C." and "Frederick Stuart, 215 Park Ave., Baltimore"
- Was hitchhiking at "Five Points," 14 miles south of Raleigh on the Fayetteville Highway when she was hit by a motor express truck (driver identified) on September 16, 1936
- Was previously given a ride from Raleigh to "Five Points" by an identified driver from Raleigh who reported learning nothing of the woman's identity
