David Jackson said his 90-year-old father, Ray Ronald Jackson went missing March 5, and neither he nor his car have been seen since.

Ray Jackson stands about 5 foot 7 and weighs around 150 pounds. He has an arthritic right knee and issues with eyesight that keep him from driving at night.

On Tuesday morning, David Jackson went to the house at 1615 Old Dallas Highway that Ray Jackson has owned since 1958. With doors locked and lights left on, the son left a note and went to get police. Nothing was disturbed when he and a Gaston County officer entered the house.

There was no sign of Ray Jackson or his red 2000 Ford Contour with N.C. license plate No. CCH-2363. A week later, there are still no clues.

Is he 80 or 90? I think 90. The headline has 80 but the articles have 90.
Missing since March 5th. Not good.

90 and still driving is rather rare, I hate to say it but this might just be a walk-away situation which rarely ends well.

The man was not in a car, and his cause of death was not obvious, said Gaston County Police Capt. Curtis Rosselle.

A medical examiner is inspecting the man's body to determine both his identity and what killed him.

Police have not ruled out two possibilities. He may be Ray Ronald Jackson, a Gaston County man who went missing March 5, and his death could be connected to a separate abduction that happened Saturday.

stormymama, You were obviously right in being concerned about the front door being open.
Very sad situation.

I don't get a good feeling about this one. I really hope that poor man is okay.

'Armed and dangerous' man accused of targeting elderly victims

Carver is well-known to law enforcement. Last fall, Channel 9 was in court as Carver faced charges for assaulting and threatening to kill a woman.

That came just one year after he was arrested on charges he raped a mentally disabled woman. At the time, prosecutors said he’d been arrested five times that year.

Imho...He should have been and hopefully will be locked away and not let out again to prey on the elderly.

The article appears to have been updated with additional details:
"Brian Carver is accused in two armed robberies in Dallas. Investigators told Channel 9 they’re also looking into whether Carver could be related to the disappearance of a 90-year-old man, although no charges have been filed against him related to that case.
...
Channel 9 spoke with the latest victim Tuesday evening.

An 80-year-old man said he was inside his home in Dallas Saturday when Carver, who once did yard work for him, asked for a ride.

The victim told Channel 9 that during the ride Carver put a gun to his head, forced him to drive home, where he robbed him and his wife.

The victim said Carver then made him drive miles away before forcing him out of the truck and driving away.

Days before, police said Carver robbed and assaulted another elderly man in Dallas. Investigators said in that case, Carver also went to the home pretending he needed help."

RIP Mr. Jackson. My heart is breaking for his family. If the person in the above article is responsible for this, that should be on the local court system. No way should that guy not be in jail whether he had something to do with his death or not.
