After she left the hospital, she called him to get her disabled car. He claims that Bello voluntarily went looking for her keys in the Kern River. That's when she was swept away.

Did I miss something? Gonna go read again.

Ok. Why was she looking for her keys in the river?

ANYONE who has ANY kind of knowledge of the Kern River....stays OUT. It is very deceptive, looks slow moving on top, but is very fast with LOTS of trees and boulders/rocks submerged. There are also some wicked rapids - this river is a white-water rafting mecca. I am from Kern County and would never get in the water in the canyon, and never to "look for keys.". Here's a fast fact: http://bakersfieldnow.com/news/local/signs-updated-kern-river-drowning-deaths-now-at-271

Prayers she is found.

Maybe they were rock hopping and she realized her keys fell from her pocket?

Found some more articles. What a strange story. So many twists and turns.

[Sheriff's spokesman] Pruitt said it's believed the person entered the river voluntarily in a possible suicide attempt.

Here is says the woman's car broke down about a half-mile into the canyon.
The family says that the missing woman was supposed to be headed to Taft College.

CHP got calls about a woman who was possibly intoxicated, walking in traffic lanes in the canyon. She was contacted and arrested for public intoxication. On the way to the jail, however, the officer was in a traffic accident. Though the woman was unharmed, the officer allowed the ambulance to take her to the hospital due to a pre-existing condition. When there, she refused treatment and left.

Portions of the 911 call from the woman's boyfriend. A few quotes of his from the call:
"My girlfriend threw herself in the water."
"She was wrong from her head."
"I guess she takes pills or something."
"No, we can't see. Can you guys please hurry."

This is me asking: The bf says "WE can't see." Was someone else with him as he made the call?

The only problem I have with the suicide angle is that it was first reported that she went looking for her keys then changed to "she threw herself in the river". Those are two very different scenarios.

I'm sorry this happened. RIP Rita. :rose:
