Virgin Mobile blushes on racy promotional wrapping paper

A Virgin Mobile Canada promotional campaign featuring two rather affectionate angels proved too racy for family-friendly theatre chain Cineplex Entertainment LP.

Movie goers received packages of the risqué Christmas wrapping paper on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. But Cineplex yesterday put an early end to the five-day campaign after receiving complaints, including from a parent and a minister.

From far away the angels on the red wrapping paper seem to be simply embracing, but with closer inspection it appears one pair is groping each other while another mischievous couple looks on. Talk about a surprise under the Christmas tree.

"Hopefully people are paying attention when they get it" so that it's not used to wrap children's gifts, said Virgin Mobile spokeswoman Paula Lash. The "tongue-in-cheek" campaign was targeted at 18- to 24-year-olds.
