Bahamas - Reco Scott, 32, Carnival Liberty, 7 April 2017

Reco Scott, 32, of Atlanta, went missing from the Carnival Liberty cruise ship about 5 a.m. Friday. The cruise ship, which departed from Port Canaveral, Fla., was about 10 miles northwest of the Berry Islands when Scott went overboard.

The man was observed jumping from a cabin balcony.

The U.S. Coast Guard suspended its search Saturday night for a man from DeKalb County who went overboard from the ninth deck of a cruise ship.

Crews searched for more than 29 hours, covering 1,064 square miles.

Coast Guard searching for missing cruise ship passenger northwest of Berry Islands
The cruise ship launched a search and contacted watch standers at the Seventh Coast Guard District Command Center.

The watch standers directed the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater MH-60 helicopter crew deployed to Great Inaguas, Bahamas, and diverted the Coast Guard Cutter Charles David Jr. to search. The cruise ship continues to search on scene along with two other vessels, including the Norwegian Jade cruise ship.

"The missing guest's family has been notified and our CareTeam is providing support," the Carnival spokesman said. "We extend our thoughts and prayers to his family and loved ones during this difficult time."

Scott was on his honeymoon with wife Angelijica Scott after they renewed their vows last Saturday, relatives told WAGA.

They originally got married in November 2015, according to Angelijica Scott's social media page.

Cruise ship crew members launched a search boat and notified the Coast Guard. The Coast Guard says it directed a search helicopter and cutter to the area to look for Scott.
