Dallas police and firefighters independently confirmed the shooting took place at about 11:30 a.m. along the 3200 block of Reynolds Avenue in East Dallas.
Police told NBC 5 DFR was called to a home when someone came out of a home and opened fire. DFR said an EMT Unit's vehicle was hit and a paramedic was injured.

The Dallas Police Association tweeted Monday that officers were "pinned down by gunfire," and the Dallas Police Department confirmed a member of Dallas Fire Rescue was transported to a hospital.


The shooting occurred across the street from a fire-rescue training center in East Dallas late in the morning.


The Dallas Morning News reports the firefighter may have been hit multiple times and is in surgery at Baylor Medical Center. There are reports other people may have been wounded.

Police are reportedly looking for a black male that is bald, wearing dark green shirt and jeans. He may be armed with a rifle, CBS DFW reports.

According to CNN affiliate KTBT, police and SWAT teams are seeking a bald man who may have a limp. He's believed to be wearing jeans and a dark green shirt, and he may have a rifle.

Being the wife of a firefighter paramedic, this hits me right in the heart. I pray he makes it through this.

Thank to your husband or wife! They have my utmost respect. I have a dear friend who's married to a firefighter, and she worries often. I'm sending you warm thoughts.

Let's all hope this firefighter pulls through! I do hope the suspect is apprehended ASAP, with no further violence.

husband- thank you. I'm anxious to see what's going on but they are being very tight lipped it seems. Praying for a good outcome!
