Deputies described the dead man as an Asian adult with multiple stab wounds to the upper torso. The body was near mile marker 21.08 in the Angeles Forest Highway. Hikers discovered the body around 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

“A group of people were out there having some type of meditation when they smelled a bad odor,” Sgt. Darrin Walker of the sheriff’s Crescenta Valley Station said.

Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s deputies and Special Enforcement Bureau Emergency Services Detail paramedics responded.

Coroner’s spokesman Ed Winter said the sheriff’s helicopter spotted a nude, decomposed body. He said the man is still listed as a John Doe. An autopsy is pending.
