Case History:
Bones discovered by a jogger on 01/06/2010 in a recently drained canal.

I'm not able to find any details about this case but another woman fell in the canal and died last month. The police say they think she drowned but her family thinks there was foul play involved: http://www.fresnobee.com/news/local/article165892232.html

Fresno police confirmed Monday that the body found in a central Fresno irrigation canal Saturday was 20-year-old Lucy Xiong, who disappeared July 28. And while her death appears to be an accident, police still don’t know how she ended up in the canal.
The coroner’s officer determined she died from drowning, Fresno police Chief Jerry Dyer said at a news conference.
“There is no evidence that Lucy Xiong’s death involved foul play,” he said. It appears that she died accidentally, but the case remains under investigation. “We do not know how Lucy Xiong ended up in the canal,” Dyer said.

They should put some kind of ladders along the path, or something. I'm sure animals end up in there too. :(

Sheesh, another Fresno canal death from May: https://www.fresnobee.com/news/local/article230136354.html

Fresno police are investigating the discovery of a body found in a central Fresno canal Tuesday afternoon.

The incident was reported to officers about 1 p.m. near Broadway Street and East Belmont Avenue. Lt. Mark Hudson said the victim appeared to be a white male. The body was found by a passerby crossing a bridge.

Homicide detectives were sent to the scene as firefighters pulled the body from the water. It was not known whether foul play was involved in the incident.

The man was identified Wednesday, May 15, as Kenneth Bass, 47, of Fresno.

And another one from just a few weeks later: Two men found dead in different Fresno County canals identified

Two men who were found dead in different canals in the last week have been identified.

On May 9, a body was pulled from a canal at Belmont Avenue and Broadway Street.

He was identified Wednesday as Kenneth Bass, 47, of Fresno.

On Tuesday, a body was pulled from a canal at Shaw and Goldenrod avenues near Biola.

He was identified as Noble Stewart, 39, of Fresno.

No other information on these deaths has been released.

Where exactly was this person found? I can’t seem to locate this info anywhere.

Bump.
Last week was the 14 year anniversary and still no identification had been made. Would love to see genetic genealogy help with this case.
