GUILTY AL - Patricia 'Patsy' Lasserre, 53, murdered, Clanton, 18 Dec 2005

State homicide investigators found the body of 53 year old Patricia Laserre Tuesday morning in rural Autauga County. Laserre was reported missing Sunday by her husband. Laserre was last seen leaving her job at the Wal-Mart in Clanton.

"We found her vehicle and the body next to the vehicle in the woods," says Autauga County Sheriff Herbie Johnson.

Investigators talked at length with Laserre about his wife's disappearance. Sheriff Herbie Johnson says this is clearly a murder, but wouldn't speculate how she died. Sources close to the case tell WSFA 12 News it appeared that Patricia Laserre was strangled to death. Not far from the scene, detectives taped off what could turn out to be a crucial piece of evidence; a purple rope.

So far there are no suspects in the case.

I was thinking random or followed out of the store. One report said that she was found about a mile "through the woods" from her home. How sad.

SELMA, AL (WSFA) - It's been more than three years, but a suspect is finally in custody in connection with a Selma cold case.

Clifford Wynn, 45, of Selma was arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged with the murder of Patricia Gayle Lasserre.

Lasserre was reported missing by family members in December of 2005, after she didn't return home from work at the Wal-Mart store in Clanton.

She was later found strangled to death in an area off an Autauga County logging road.

Wynn is currently being held at the Autauga County Metro Jail on a $300,000 bond.

The judge who last week sentenced a man to two consecutive life terms for the rape and murder of Prattville resident Patricia Lasserre ruled on a motion Tuesday regarding a new trial.

Judge Sibley Reynolds' ruling denied Clifford Wynn's motion for a new trial in Autauga County. Judge Reynolds did not give a reason for issuing the denial.

An Autauga County jury deliberated about an hour and 15 minutes Tuesday afternoon before returning guilty verdicts in the murder and rape trial of Clifford Wynn.

Wynn, 49, of Selma was charged in the Dec. 18, 2005, death of Patricia "Patsy" Laserre, 53. She never made it home that night after leaving work at the Clanton Walmart...
