Circumstances of Disappearance
Gallagher was last seen in her Azalea, OR home in September 1988. Gallagher lived with her boyfriend, Robert Douglas Barr, at the time. She was reported missing by her sister on February 7, 1989. On March 26, 2001, the 61-year-old Barr killed his wife, Rebecca, in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, and committed suicide a month later. Barr lived in a heavily wooded area in Azalea.
Azalea, Oregon, is located on Interstate -5, 88 miles north of the California border. Gallagher, at that time, was coaching the Roseburg Swim Team, was employed with the Red Cross, and worked as a life guard at Umpqua Community College swimming pool. Gallagher was a student at Umpqua Community College majoring in Corporate Physical Fitness. Gallagher has worked in retail, food and beverage service, community service, ranching.
Gallagher had friends in the Red Bluff / Redding region of California at the time she disappeared. The birthday and Christmas calls that she always made to her son in the Midwest stopped at the time.
Robert Douglas Barr, the man Barbara was living with at the time of her disappearance, is the main suspect in Gallagher's disappearance. He later married another woman who was murdered in 2001. After finding out that he was the focus of a police investigation into his wifes murder, he committed suicide with the same gun he allegedly used to shoot his wife.
Law enforcement closed the case in 2004, but Gallagher remains missing.

Douglas County Jane Doe, found in 2013 but believed to have died years prior to discovery. Skull only. Doe Network page: http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/1268ufor.html and NamUs profile: https://identifyus.org/cases/12221. There were several possibilities as there were quite a few women reported missing throughout the surrounding area over the years, but I thought Barbara was up there in the top five potential candidates. Details of Disappearance
Gallagher was last seen in Azalea, Oregon sometime between September and mid-October 1988. She has not been heard from again and her whereabouts are unknown.

Gallagher lived in Azalea on Bull Run Road with her boyfriend, Robert Barr, at the time of her disappearance. Azalea is located on Interstate 5 and is approximately 88 miles north of the California state border.

In 2001, Barr's wife's body was found in the South Lake Tahoe, California area. Several weeks later Barr shot himself to death. Investigators determined that the gun he used was the same weapon used to murder his wife; they believe he killed her. He is described as a consummate liar with a history of violence, but he was never charged in connection with Gallagher's case.

Gallagher coached the Roseburg Swim Team, was employed at the Red Cross and also worked as a lifeguard. She was a student at Umpqua Community College and majored in corporate physical fitness at the time she disappeared. Her hobbies include scuba diving, jogging, photography, collecting carousel horses and attending rodeos.

Gallagher has experience working in the retail industry, food and beverage service, community service and ranching. She was associated with people from the Redding/Red Bluff, California in 1988. It is not known if Gallagher traveled to that region after she was last seen. Her case is unsolved.

Barbara has been missing for 34 years this month.

It is more than clear who was the murderer of Barbara.. What I hate about these cases is that the murderer ended up committing suicide and was never tried or suffered for having killed Barbara.. I hate when that happens..they leave free of dust and straw ...
rest in peace barbara

Totally agree, but on the other hand the authorities have to have evidence
We will no doubt all add 2 + 2 and know what it equals

But even if it was proven he killed his wife, committed suicide when realising the police were investigating him, had a history of violence AND was a consummate liar it is still all circumstantial - which is infuriating in this case, but has to be the law to protect the innocent

I do hope they find her. It's so unfortunate it took 6 months for her to be reported missing - which would make the trail go cold, and possible evidence be harder to find
