if she's hurt somewhere, the dog would likely stay in the vicinity but be barking & crying to draw attention

I hope they have searchers out

Even searching for a missing person can come with dangers for LE, glad nobody was hurt!

No one was aboard an Ottawa police all-terrain vehicle when it was struck by a Via rail train near the intersection of Colonnade Road and Prince of Wales Drive Monday night.

Officers had the ATV out as part of the search for Nelliya Karbisheva, a missing elderly woman, when the vehicle got “hung up” on the tracks, police said.

According to Cara Salci, a spokeswoman for the hospital, Karbisheva was not a patient at the hospital. She was there for reasons other than treatment. Hospital staff are working with Ottawa police to help provide any information they can about the visitor, including providing security footage of her while she was at the hospital. Salci also said an email has been circulated to hospital staff, alerting them to be on the lookout in case Karbisheva returns at some point.

She was also seen in the 300 block of Horseshoe Crescent in Stittsville around noon Sunday.

oh no, so sad that she is missing. Lots of unanswered questions. I hope she and her doggy show up very soon and very safe and sound.

Ottawa police will meet today to decide how to proceed in their search for an elderly woman missing since Sunday night.

Police have been sweeping the area on foot and searching from above with the help of OPP drones, but have found no sign of either the woman or her dog.

Ottawa police say they haven't given up the search and are still operating from a command post in the area. They're asking local residents to check sheds and backyards for signs of Karbisheva.

OMG how terribly sad. RIP Ms. Karbisheva. :rose:

Police searchers found Karbisheva's body early Thursday afternoon. No foul play is suspected.

The dog was found alive and safe by her side.

Karbisheva's body was eventually discovered "more or less 10 kilometres" from her home, Ottawa Police Service Const. Marc Soucy said Thursday.

"She was an avid walker, so we knew that the distance could be a big area to search," Soucy said. "We knew that from the beginning."
