Her son has been arrested for forgery, etc... against his mother. She had been reporting her bank and an adult protective services worker (who reported her missing) that her son was stealing from her. The police did a search of her home and found that her cell phone and car were still there. Son states that she "always" forgets her phone and the car was still there because she had taken a trip to Savannah with a person known as "Glenda" who drove. Police have bee called to her home 5 times since Dec 2016.
I hate to say it but this is sounding like an all too familiar story. I sure hope she is okay and just got away from the son.

Police announced Wednesday that John Rosevelt has been indicted on charges of malice murder, aggravated assault, felony murder, concealing the death of another, tampering with evidence, terroristic threats and two counts of making false statements.

John Rosevelt's indictment indicated police found something in the home that led them to believe John had tried to remove his mother's blood and other fluids from inside the home.

Her body is still missing.

Murder defendant scheduled for trial

http://thebrunswicknews.com/news/local_news/murder-defendant-scheduled-for-trial/article_a28345a1-fdce-58b6-b74e-137f0952418a.html

Glynn County Superior Court Judge Roger Lane issued a scheduling order Sept. 12, laying out the timeline for the eventual trial of John William Rosevelt, 50, who authorities believe killed his 72-year-old mother, Linda Mansfield, who was last seen alive May 17.

Prosecutors are to have their discovery — or evidence — to the defense by Nov. 1, with the defense turning over its discovery Dec. 1. Both sides have until Dec. 15 to file pre-trial motions, and until Jan. 8, 2018, to file their responses to those motions. Lane slated the motion hearing for Jan. 12 and jury selection for Jan. 22.

Police still have not found Mansfield following an extensive search.

[h=1]Body found in Glynn County woods definitely woman missing since May whose son is charged in death[/h]
BRUNSWICK, GA. | Human remains found in rural woods Tuesday are definitely those of a missing woman whose son is charged with murder in her death, police said Wednesday.

Members of a hunting club reported about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday that they had found suspected human remains in an area between the Thalmann and Sterling communities north of Brunswick, Sgt. Brian Scott of the Glynn County police said.

Police responded to an area about 150 yards north of Georgia 32 and six miles west of the Sterling community where investigators found evidence indicating the body there was that of 72-year-old Linda Mansfield, Scott said.

“It’s her. We’ve notified the family,” Scott said.

She did everything right! Had an adult abuse caseworker, had her bank, etc., checking transactions, but he killed her. So sad!

Defense counsel Katie Willcox Williams moved for a venue change in the matter because of extensive and detailed pretrial news coverage of the homicide and the criminal prosecution, and proposed a number of counties outside the Brunswick Judicial Circuit with demographics generally similar to Glynn County.

District Attorney Jackie Johnson countered that one of the most-publicized cases in recent history, the Guy Heize multiple murder case, was held in Glynn County after the court found enough qualified jurors, so it would be reasonable to believe there are enough qualified jurors in Glynn County to try the Roosevelt case.

Lane said he was of the mind to wait until jury selection, and revisit the question then.

Another motions hearing is scheduled for March, with jury selection beginning before the end of the month.

Ahead of his anticipated murder trial tentatively scheduled to begin in March, a Glynn County man fired his court-appointed attorney and will proceed by representing himself.

John William Roosevelt, 50, is accused of killing his mother, 72-year-old Linda Mansfield, in May 2017, along with charges related to the concealment of the alleged homicide and forging checks drawn from her banking account.

His court-appointed lawyer, Katie Willcox Williams, submitted on Feb. 5 a motion to withdraw, noting Roosevelt was advised of his obligations to prepare for the future of the case or hire an attorney on his own, of court dates already scheduled and the consequences he could face for not meeting his obligations.

A pretrial motions hearing in the case is scheduled for March 9.

Whether evidence of cadaver dog behavior in the investigation of the death of Linda Mansfield is allowed in the trial of her son, is currently the decision before Judge Roger Lane following a motions hearing Thursday morning in Glynn County Superior Court.

Jury selection and rulings on pretrial motions are scheduled for May 14 at 9:30 a.m.

Son pleads to manslaughter in mom's death, gets 40 years

John William Roosevelt, 50, received the maximum possible sentence of 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter, concealing the death of another and exploitation and intimidation of an elderly person, said Jackie Johnson, District Attorney for the Brunswick Judicial Circuit.

Family members of both Mansfield and Roosevelt asked the court to accept the plea “to save the family from the burden of an anticipated lengthy and painful trial,” according to the District Attorney’s Office. The DA and Roosevelt’s attorney, Katie Wilcox Williams, both agreed to Roosevelt’s plea.

Mansfield’s remains had been held in evidence pending the trial. Her other son said he wished to have Mansfield’s remains released from evidence in order to bury her beside her father, the release said.
