Longmont police are asking for the public's help in finding a missing adult who requires medication and who was last known to be in New Mexico for unknown reasons. Family members are concerned for his safety because he is believed to have been without his medication for at least 56 hours.

Richard Steven Rue, who goes by "Rick," has been missing from Longmont since Friday.

His last known location was a Good-To-Go store in Williamsburg, N.M., which is off Interstate 25 in southern New Mexico.

Police say it's not known why Rue left Colorado, or where he's going.
Family members say this is unusual behavior for Rue.

He is believed to be driving a white 1994 Ford Ranger with Colorado license plate 835 XMF.

Rue is described as a white male who is 6 foot 1 inches tall and weighs 195 pounds. He has brown hair, brown eyes and often wears wide-brim hats.

Just saw this in the local news. We did have a large music festival here Saturday and Sunday called Neon Desert. Could he have come to attend that? Whatever he takes medication for sounds pretty serious, I hope he is safe and found soon!

The Missing Pieces flyer has been updated. Rick's truck was found close to where he was last seen.

[h=1]Parents plea for help to find missing son[/h]The parents of the missing Colorado man have now made their way to El Paso in an effort to expand the search.

More info and a heartbreaking interview with Rick's parents at the link. I think it's great that they decided to leave his truck at the gas station, in case he comes back for it. They are also offering a $1,000 reward. Where are you, Rick? :(

Family asks El Pasoans to help search for missing Colorado man

Family and friends are asking El Pasoans to join them at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Whataburger at 650 Sunland Park Drive in West El Paso as they form a search party to check the area near the Valero gas station where Richard Rue was last seen.

A lot of new info at the link. Rick seems to have zero connection to El Paso. His cellphone was lost (and found) in Colorado. His truck was found with camping gear and clothing in it. His parents had stayed with Rick at his house a week prior to his disappearance and didn't notice anything unusual going on with him...

Pardon my jumbled post. Today I sat at the Whataburger that they are meeting at for the search party and stared at Rick's truck. It was such an eerie feeling, knowing that he was there and now he's missing. I am very familiar with that area, used to live a few blocks up the street, and I had NO idea which way to go. Up towards the mountain is mostly quiet, residential with some desert-y areas. All other directions you've got restaurants, shopping, bars, I-10, Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino and so forth. In other words, a lot of congestion and activity. I drove around for at least an hour and realized just how frustrated and frightened his family must feel. I am going to do my very best to go to the search in the morning but it's a little iffy. If I can go, I will only be able to stay for about an hour because I have a commitment on the east side of town. Perhaps I could reach out on Facebook to find out more specifically where they would like flyers distributed because I could do that later in the afternoon.

Advice anyone? I believe that some copy places will print flyers free for missing persons, is that correct? I'm assuming the Missing Pieces flyer would be ok? I can print some myself, also. Another thing, I'm wondering about Texas Equusearch? Is anyone familiar with how they work before I suggest it? I believe they need an invite from LE but isn't this just the type of case they handle?

I'm so sad about Rick. It's just different (to me anyway) when you see a case play out before your eyes. I really want to help in any way I can.

Please be OK, Rick. :please:

Bumping for Rick. I so hope he's found safe tonight and the search party will not be needed!

Was the truck out of gas maybe? Doors locked like he meant to leave it there for an extended time?

I am about 4 hours east of El Paso, I wish I was closer so I could help search.

LaborofLobe you say there's mountains & desert in one direction, imho that'd be the direction I'd look, if he hasn't had his meds & cant make good decisions without it, then it may be possible he went to harm himself or maybe he met someone & harm was done to him & he was taken to the desert-y mountain area.

Labor, thank you for alerting me to this case! Yes, I believe Kinkos will print missing flyers for no cost. Bless you for getting the word out about Rick! I imagine it was a bizarre feeling knowing you are in the same place where he seems to have disappeared from, probably wishing you could turn back the clock to be in that same location when he was there.

I think the positive thing about this case is Rick's seems to have left his truck in a decently populated area. I was so afraid when I googled the address that it would be in the middle of nowhere. (I am assuming it is confirmed the sighting was definitely him.)

Here is where Rick was last seen:

I will keep poking around. I wish I was closer to come help you look!

I learned that it is different during Pulse.

It is totally diff. And I never really beleived it from locals on other cases (Joey was the very active in that manner,

Your gonna end up ruminating a lot but being able to try something is helpful.

Thank you,Pink! I printed out quite a few flyers last night but I can print/get more. It was truly bizarre and turning back the clock was exactly what I was wishing I could do. Your map is correct, his truck is at the Valero Corner Store on the corner of Sunland Park Dr. and Cromo (right across the street from Whataburger) and it is a very congested area.

Here's a pic of his truck:

There is a pay phone just feet away from his truck, out of the picture. Does it work? I wondered if he tried to use it, since we now know his cellphone was found in CO on Thursday. Oh goodness, so scary for his family. I was really hoping he'd be found by this morning. Printing up some more flyers right now so I can go in a little while. I just want to help in some way, this is so sad. :(

Hiya CARIIS. It has never been said what condition he has or what medication he is taking.

Richard Rue suffers from a serious medical condition and needs medications. Bob Rue declined to comment on what the medical condition is, but said “if he is not talking them (the medications), he is in danger.”

http://www.elpasotimes.com/story/ne...s-help-search-missing-colorado-man/366856001/

Possibly seizure control medication? JMHO, no direct knowledge.

This was my initial thought until I realized it is reported his condition severely impairs his judgement. This leads me to think of something along mental health lines.

My goodness. Mind is racing.

Rick's parents Bob and Lisa are incredible, loving people. There were/are 10-12 of us helping search. The youngest was a high school girl who was sharing info on Instagram so I asked if they minded me sharing on WS. They said it was fine.

This situation is dire. This is not the first time Rick's illness has caused frightening episodes...it's the 9th. Lisa said this most recent period of time (didn't catch how long) was the longest Rick had ever gone without problems and he was doing SO well. Then he quit taking his meds...

They tracked his debit card purchases through many places in CO and NM before he got here, but no activity in days. They gave us the most recent surveillance photo they have and Rick is quite disheveled. Tip this morning took Bob to a 7-11 a mile or so from his truck and the EPPD met him there to go over the footage. Don't know if that panned out or not.

We've got a group text message going and I'm keeping up until I can get back over there. I met a man who swore he saw Rick downtown and it looks like the leads are taking us in that direction. Maybe the bus stations or a place called the Opportunity Center (they assist homeless/people down on their luck for whatever reason).

Sitting here glued to my phone hoping and praying for good news, like now. These sweet people need to find their precious boy safe and take him home. Please please please...
