[h=1]Myanmar army plane with over 100 on board missing after losing communication[/h]
A Myanmar army aircraft with 120 people on board, including soldiers, family members and aircraft staff, went missing on Wednesday on a flight from a southern town to the city of Yangon, the military and civil aviation officials said.

The Chinese-made Y-8-200F transport plane left the coastal town of Myeik at 1:06 p.m (0636 GMT) heading north to Myanmar's largest city of Yangon on a regular weekly flight that visits several coastal towns, officials said.

The plane lost contact 29 minutes after take off while flying at 18,000 feet over the Andaman Sea, about 43 miles (70 km) west of the town of Dawei, the military said.

How terrible, I know this is a crazy accident but I am deathly afraid of planes. May everyone aboard RIP and I hope their friends and family peace. :heartbeat:

Fifteen passengers have reportedly survived a plane crash after military aircraft carrying more than 100 people vanished over Myanmar.

Myanmar was once known as Burma. Some of the articles still call it Burma.

Amazing news that they have found survivors!

It is worrisome that I have not found any new news source that confirms any survivors other than the one posted above.
There may be language translations problems in reporting the info and also their time zone is showing it is already tomorrow there.

Here are a couple of links with updates on the search.

I agree. I think something was lost in translation. I can't find any mention of survivors anywhere else :(

Bodies and aircraft debris were found in the sea off the southern coast of Myanmar on Thursday by a navy ship searching for a military plane which went missing with 122 soldiers, family members and crew on board.

Three bodies, including two adults and a child, were found some 35 km (22 miles) from the southern coastal town of Launglon, the military said in a statement on its official Facebook page.

A plane wheel, two life jackets and some bags with clothes - believed to be from the missing Chinese-made Y-8-200F transport plane - were also found, the statement said, adding the military search will continue.

Hundreds of locals, relatives and NGO workers clasping umbrellas watched as a fishing boat laden with the dead pulled up to San Hlan beach, where they were unloaded by NGO workers and uniformed soliders wearing masks and gloves.

"My cousin's sister's family was in the plane crash -- her husband, her child and herself," said Kyaw Swar Myint, 44, from Dawei.

"We heard news that the helicopter was now transporting about 20 dead bodies to the beach,so we are waiting here."

:(

(Reminds me of the old riddle "A plane crashes at so and so...where did they bury the survivors?)
