Authorities investigate Missouri snake breeder’s death
6/16/17 8:30 AM

NEW FLORENCE, Mo. — Authorities are investigating the death of a Missouri snake breeder who was shot several times by an intruder.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/2ry8p4y ) reports that Montgomery County Sheriff Matthew Schoo says 29-year-old Benjamin Renick was found last week near several hundred caged snakes inside his business, Renick Reptiles.

He specialized in breeding designer pythons at the business that he ran out of a building near his home. He sold the nonvenomous snakes nationwide.

I am wondering who will be taking care of the snakes at the farm now. As long as they are fed well they are content to be in the cages. But if not they are great escape artists to go on the hunt for food. By looking at the website for Renick Reptiles it appears to me that those enclosures are not substantial to hold a strong python or constrictor who wants out. Not to mention how aggressive they become.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Department initially were called out to the farm off of Highway RB Thursday night for a possible incident with a snake. Upon arrival, deputies discovered that the owner, 29-year-old Benjamin Renick,*was dead.

He was found inside his business, Renick Reptiles, near 300 to 400 exotic snakes held in cages, said Montgomery County Sheriff Matthew Schoo, who was tight-lipped on details.
“When we are talking about homicide, we like to keep that pretty close to the vest,” he said. “We don’t have too many of those. We have people of interest, and we are working that angle.”
The Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control is assisting.

It seems that this property that Ben lived on has a storied past, and his snake farm was on it...

"Until recently, two of his sons lived on the 72-acre property with their families in separate homes. At 6:35 p.m. June 8, an emergency call went out over the radio about the youngest one possibly being killed by a large snake that was on the loose.

But that’s not what happened. Police said Benjamin B. Renick, 29, was shot several times by an unknown intruder."

I live in MO and I have no seen the MO Highway Patrol Drug and Crime Unit involved in a regular homicide.

@cathyrusson
#SnakeBreederMurder Ashley Shaw was given immunity by prosecutors for her testimony today. We expect her to testify to helping Lynee Renick plan the murder of her husband and aiding in an alibi.

@cathyrusson
#SnakeBreederMurder - On The Stand Now: Ashley Shaw previously worked at a spa with the defendant. When the defendant opened her own spa, Shaw went to work for her. She testifies the spa was losing money

@cathyrusson
#SnakeBreederMurder Shaw testifies she gave the defendant the pills and she watched Lynlee grind them up in a Nutri-bullet. The plan was to put them in a protein drink.

Wow seeing Lynlee in court ....she has a flat affect IMO.
Everyone that testified says it was her idea.
LR must have a way of charming others.
That said..What a bunch of wicked sick people to think poisoning and or ending another human’s life was “okay” ...pfttt...just another day at the spa I guess.

LR defense attorney was repeatably sighing heavily yesterday coupled with loud shuffling of papers…and he’s doing it again today!

Patrol investigator is doing a great job on the stand btw..

Literally the worst defense attorney I've ever seen. And the detectives this afternoon are horrendous. Complete cluster

Just in...
LR is going to take the stand.
IMO she must be so in love with herself that she thinks SHE can turn this entire thing around!

It's really her only hope if she didn't do it.
