Circumstances of Recovery
The decedent was found on 6/19/17 at approximately 1100hrs by a field hand who was working in a rice field in Colorado County. The decedent was located in an irrigation canal. The decedent was found to have a hip prosthesis, consisting of a metal upper femur and acetabulum. The decedent also appears to have had dental care, as dental restorations are present. DNA is being submitted for testing.

Condition of Remains Not recognizable - Near complete or complete skeleton

Artificial body part/aid

The decedent has an artificial (prosthetic) left hip (upper femur shaft, femoral head, and acetabulum). It appears to have been made by the Peter Brehm Company in Germany. Reportedly, this company does not export to the USA and does not place serial numbers on their medical devices.

Namus still says "DNA is being submitted for testing" so not sure if it's still underway for some reason, or whether Namus' text simply hasn't been updated. The comment about the origin of the prosthetic hip that originally appeared in Namus is no longer there, replaced with "The decedent has an artificial (prosthetic) left hip."

One visible ruleout in Namus

Sounds like an older adult and with enough money to afford dental restorations..(But you never know)

They don't elaborate on the dental restorations...Were they complete or were they a crown here and there? (Makes a difference) All of my molars are now restorations, but many adults have a crown here and there.

I wonder if he fell in the canal?
