DAVENPORT, Fla. A missing child alert has been issued for a 7-year-old boy last seen on Verbana Street, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement said.

DAVENPORT, Fla. – The Florida Department of Children and Families issued a missing child alert for a Davenport 7-year-old boy.

Donovan Carruthers was last seen in the 100 block of Verbena Street in Davenport.

Authorities believe the child may be in the company of 41-year-old Joseff Rhodes.

Rhodes has a criminal history, which includes promoting prostitution, according to authorities.

Carruthers has been unaccounted for between seven and 12 days. The Orange County Sheriff's Office reported to DCF that Carruthers could be in danger and maybe with Rhodes on June 19.

I'm assuming they have reasons to assume Donovan might be with Rhodes... and if Rhodes believes he's his dad, then maybe Donovan will at least be somewhat safe - I just hope so, anyway. As opposed to him being with someone who just might want to get rid of him... :(
 
Ugh... this is so sad. Who knows how this poor boy's life has been so far. I hope they find him safe.

Donovan Carruthers is in the care of police in Rialto, Calif. They are waiting for California Child Services to get the boy.

Police said they were able to contact the man who had the boy, 41-year-old Joseff Rhodes, who is not the boy's father. Rhodes took the boy to the police department.
