This is up the road (well sort of) from where I live. I know several people who went to school with him. It's a horrible crime, the whole area is shocked by it.

A man who was stabbed through the heart while walking home from a night out died in his parents’ arms, detectives have said.

West Midlands police said officers investigating the death of James Brindley in Aldridge, near Walsall, are appealing for the occupants of four cars, who passed the scene, to come forward. Brindley was attacked in the high street shortly before midnight on Friday.

Officers have yet to find a murder weapon. Giving an update on the inquiry’s progress, DI Jim Munro confirmed that the 26-year-old died at the scene in his parents’ arms after they had rushed to his side.

Munro said: “We know that four vehicles were travelling along Little Aston Road towards Aldridge town centre at the time we believe James was stabbed and we are very keen to speak to the occupants of those cars, two light in colour and the other two darker, as they may have seen what happened and could lead us to the killer.

The 26-year-old was seen having a disagreement with two men who are then thought to have run off through The Croft park at around the time of the fatal attack, police revealed today.

The young man from Aldridge died in his parents' arms on the village's High Street on Friday, after he was stabbed through the heart following a night out with friends.

The attack, described as 'callous' and brutal' by detectives, is believed to have happened out of view of CCTV in the Little Aston Road area shortly before midnight.

The link above has a map to help understand the area. What I found scary was that the area of road where there is no CCTV is quite small. He was seen walking along the road on one camera and then when he was picked up by the second one, he was already stabbed. Did the attackers know this?

They are looking for 4 cars (photos on the links above) which were seen on CCTV around the time he was stabbed, in the hope that maybe they saw something as they drove past. They also are searching for 2 men who were seen around the area on food at the time.

“The attack lasted just seconds and four 16-year-old lads just leaving their school prom were the first to assist James by calling emergency services and providing immediate first aid.

“They were also able to get in touch with James’s parents.”
I've read other articles about this as well - the 4 lads found him, and called his family and girlfriend after they had phoned an ambulance. The bit about him dying in his parents arms had me sobbing. It's just horrible and it's in an area where this kind of thing rarely happens. Not that it makes it any better or worse sorry, I just meant that it's a quiet area .

Just up the road from me also and i also haveany mutual friends with him. Sad state ofthe world.

I believe 2 of the 4 car drivers have now come forward

We might be neighbours ;)

Oh good, glad two of them have come forward. At first I misread the articles and thought that the police suspected all 4 cars of being involved which had me totally confused but then I realised what was meant.

The area where there is no CCTV, is that widely known? Or was it just chance do you think? I don't tend to go into Aldridge very much so I don't know the area that well.

Aldridge being such a small area, I'd like to think someone would know who they were. Assuming they were from the area that is

Thanks for that, I hadn't realised that it had gone to court.

I've now come across this report

https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-news/teenager-unaware-stabbed-aspiring-model-14204625

A teenager accused of killing an aspiring model on a street was unaware that he had stabbed him, a court heard.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, denied murdering 26-year-old James Brindley and said he had taken out a knife because he feared being attacked.

Birmingham Crown Court heard that Mr Brindley had gone out for a night with friends on June 23 2017 to Aldridge town centre.

He was returning home when he “encountered” the teenager and 21 year-old Aaron Kharod, near the Croft.

Jonas Hankin QC, prosecuting, said during a confrontation the 17-year-old had stabbed Mr Brindley in the heart.

He ran a short distance before collapsing and died despite a medical team carrying out open heart surgery.

Kahrod has also denied a charge of murder.

The teenager said that from May last year he had carried a small kitchen knife for his own protection following an incident near a Tesco store when he was he was threatened and racially abused by a group of males who pulled a knife out on him.
