I haven't found much information about this case online.

Was Janet from Jefferson City, MO? Is that where she began her trip to GA? If not, where did her trip begin?

Where was she seen in Jeff City? Getting ready for the trip? Visiting family? Stopping at a store or gas station?

Was she traveling with anyone else? A friend or relative?

I hope her family finds her.
 
Last seen in Jefferson Missouri, car found in Fultondale, Alabama, and her destination was Georgia.

Tracing the route in Google Maps, she drove 9 hours of a 13 hour drive. She made it half way there.

The question is, where in Fultondale Alabama her car was found? Gas station? Rest stop? Motel? Mall? Abandoned in the road?

Depending on the location of the car, she could've met with foul play.
 
What a sad case....there is so little information available. Are there still people looking for her or her remains? I would like to know what kind of person she was and what the family thinks what happened. She is a little to old to be a runaway. Was she married, divorced, did she had children, a job?

What was she planning to do in Georgia and for how long was she planning to stay away? Was it a known route for her? Dit somebody actually see her leave? Did she say goodbye to friends or family? It isn't said she drove the car herself to Fultondale, AL. Or was she witnessed to arrive there. Did she talk or met people there? So many questions... somehow we need a story filled in here. What also saddens me is that there is just one little unclear photo of her.

She is stated as endangered missing. My interpretation of this is that there must be some indication that she met foul play, had an accident, was taken against her will, captured or even worse. In other words that there are reason to believe her going missing wasn't her own choice.

She is in Namus: The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) I hope they have identifiers by now. According to the Doe Network there is DNA. And she is at Charley's Janet E. Knife – The Charley Project

Is there a WS member willing to help find more pictures of her on high school yearbooks? @MadMcGoo would you be so kind to take a look at her Namus file, if she was ever ruled out against a Jane Doe?

That’s a good question... I’ve always assumed it meant they had been declared dead but now that you ask I guess I’m not positive. I have never even seen this case before! There’s something familiar about her. Her teeth or mouth possibly. Idk. Let me look around the yearbooks and stuff and see what I can find!

I was just working on something before I responded here and was looking at UIDs who were found with wedding bands. When I saw Janet’s additional photos I recognized the face!

The UID had expensive dental work done at some point and I’d assume braces weren’t cheap in the 70’s (they’re still not) but Janet’s teeth look to have possibly needed some major work. JMO

Yes, I can see the braces now too. It a photo from 1978, she must have been around 19 there, so she most likely didn't wore them anymore when she went missing. If the info is correct she looks to have been married twice. First with Knife later with Clark, I wonder why she kept using Knife afterwards as her parent have a different surname.

I see on the thread that she has been submitted being Rising Fawn Jane Doe, already in 2015 and she is not on the recent rule out list in Namus, MadMCoo provided. What happened with the submission, you wonder.

Yah! So I guess we’d be looking for a Doe with fairly straight teeth. Not what we see in her earlier photos.

I didn’t see anything about her marriages when I first searched (but I got distracted with the Sumter Does ;) ). I’m going to look again now.

I did catch a glimpse of someone else’s ancestry tree and it only showed one spouse. But that doesn’t say much, there are branches of my tree I haven’t had a chance to edit that people probably see and make them think twice about claiming me as a relative! :D:p

I think the gap between her teeth could have been narrowed by the braces, but totally closed? I don't know... It can't be that bad claiming you as relative :)
