On July 3rd I received and email from Detective Corporal Charles Hess of the Kissimmee Police Department. asking specifically if we could help find missing Marvin Holderman.

Detective Hess saw Websleuths on A Killing Season on A&E and, as he put it "Decided to give you a try".

Background on Marvin Holderman;

Marvin Holderman was/is a homeless man. Every month he received approximately $1000.00 a month from a trust fund in check form. In October 2008 Mr. Holderman stopped cashing his checks.

When Marvin Holderman went missing he was 55-56-years-old. Now he would be 65.

He is a white male with reddish hair and has a mustache and beard. Nickname "Rusty"

Height in Inches: 70.-74
Weight: 160 to 240

Tattoo on right shoulder "Born to Raise Hell"
Tattoo on right arm of a panther
Tattoo on left arm of a peacock

He is a Vietnam Vet who had trouble adjusting and was self-medicating. However, he wasn't on the police radar at all. Didn't cause problems for law enforcement in Kissimmee.

It safe to say the odds are Marvin "Rusty" Holderman is deceased and died shortly sometime after he cashed his last check in Oct. 2008.

His sister is looking for him and would like to bring him home.

While all of our missing are important Marvin Holderman is different. A member of law enforcement reached out to Websleuths and asked for help.

I would like to thank Corporal Detective Charles Hess of the Kissimmee Police Department for contacting us.

To email Detective Hess use: CHESS@kissimmee.org

We will do our very best.

we'll start digging

11 years is a long time. Is there any way to find out where he hung out/slept/ate in Kissimmee? Did he smoke? Did he have an attire preference? Did he ride a bike or walk everywhere? Who should we ask to get this type of background information, Detective Hess directly?

Some court records in California before he went missing (1998-2003). One is for using high beams at night (24409 a), another for petty theft/resist arrest (484a) (148a1).

He was homeless in Kissimmee. I wonder what happened to the vehicle he was driving in CA.

If you do a google images search of Marvin using his full name, there is an image of a man in a black shirt and hat. It's about the 9th image in. It's an obituary, but I can't get to it on my mobile device. Can somebody please see who's name that image belongs to? It kind of looks like Marvin, except for the hair color and straightness of it. But, its grainy so I'm not sure, and want to hear other opinions on that. Thanks.

I see the image but I also can't seem to get to the source. It just brings up a bunch of recent obituaries. Odd.

I tried to enlarge the little photo, (on the Daily World) and I almost could read the name beside it, but not very well. It looked a little like "Donald E. ........." but I can't say for sure. It don't think it said Holderman, but he surely does look like him. Someone better with enlarging photos may be able to figure it out.

Interesting

I had a quick look at the suggestions of Gardener, this one
https://identifyus.org/en/cases/9822
Looks good. A hour away from where he was last seen and body was found in what was used as a homeless camp, Interested to know if ruled out.

All great suggestions they should compare dna if they have any
The first one estimated death maybe too far away from him being missing, but the 3rd option is only a hour away and definitely could also be a option!

The facial reconstruction on this guy jumps out as looking similar to Marvin: The overlay isn't perfect. The John Doe's face is slightly longer, But he might be worth a look anyway

What about this guy
https://identifyus.org/en/cases/8112

Thought it was the same guy as in Gardeners post but don't think it is?
Says "Found in wooded area, homeless, known as preacher man by other homeless individuals."
Looks like him in the image

Actually maybe it is the same person? The remains seem to be found in same general area.

I don't think demographics should be a limitation. He went to Florida from California, so it's possible he made some traveling decisions - being that his state of mind was not good at that time.

I see a lot of transients around Orange Blossom Trail in Orlando. It's entirely possible that he is mixed in among them. I will look closely at some of them in search of that hair color. I imagine he'd be somewhat thinner now with less hair. But why would he not pick up his $1,000 check? If they find him alive, it seems that he'll have somewhere in the neighborhood of $100,000. That would make him wealthier than me.
