A Youngstown woman has been added to the Ohio Attorney General's Missing Person web page.

Shannon Graves, 28, was last seen around Christmas, according to a family member who filed a missing person report with the Youngstown Police Department in late June.

Her sister told 21 News Graves's friends last saw her with her boyfriend around mid-February 2017.

Graves' sister told police that it is not uncommon for Graves to go long periods of time without communicating with family members, but said she had never gone so long without contacting someone.

Graves did not show up for her sister's birthday in March, and she missed Easter, too, her sister said.

Graves' sister also said she never left home without her car, dog, and cell phone, but all three were left behind when she went missing.

The missing woman's cell phone was disconnected and she had been evicted from her West Side home some time ago, according to the relative.

Graves is described as a white female, 5 feet tall, 105 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

"Youngstown police arrested Arturo Novoa, 31, on a warrant for abuse of a corpse while at work in a restaurant kitchen Saturday night.

On Sunday, Katrina Layton, 34, was also arrested and may also be charged with abuse of a corpse, as well as obstructing justice. "

The body is possibly a female, and was found in a freezer at a home. Novoa's girlfiend had been reported missing, according to the article... trying to see if I can figure out if that ever made the news.

Youngstown police say it's too early to tell how*the person, who is possibly a woman, died, but they do believe the crime happened in Youngstown and later ended in Campbell.

Youngstown Police say they are investigating whether this case is related to a missing person case they are handling.

A person close to Novoa told 21 News his girlfriend was reported missing.*

In February, 21 News reported on a Youngstown woman who went missing. 28 year- old Shannon Graves has not been seen since February.

The sister of Graves told 21 News Novoa was dating Graves when she went missing.

This body will likely be that of Shannon. If so it will be a sad outcome but at least her family won't be left in that limbo of unknowing. It is so heartbreaking to think of the many loved ones of missing persons who spend years, sometimes lifetimes never knowing what became of their family member. :(

Last seen in February and only reported as missing in June?

Oh My!

Another article:http://www.wfmj.com/story/36005589/body-found-in-freezer

Her sister Debbie DePaul who had reported her missing, had told us Shannon would never leave without her dog and kept in touch with her dad and friends. She believes sadly her sister has been found. Arturo Novoa had claimed to friends that Shannon Graves moved and left him for another man, however she left her car and her dog behind and that didn't make sense to family or friends. Graves also missed her sister's birthday and was a no show on Easter. She was listed as a Missing Person on the Ohio Attorney General's website.

Novoa has spent time in the state penitentiary, then was convicted for having a gun when not allowed, due to his prior felony conviction. Police were questioning another potential suspect. Both Arturo Novoa and Kartina Layton are expected to be charged formally in court Monday.

Bond set at $1 million each for couple in freezer case

http://www.vindy.com/news/2017/aug/01/m-bonds-set-in-case-involving-body-found/

"About the time police think Graves went missing, Layton moved into Graves’ apartment, used her car, phone, credit cards and took care of Graves’ dog, Lantz said. Layton was “basically assuming [Graves’] life and her belongings with Mr. Novoa,” Lantz said."

Also: "The freezer was found about 4:30 p.m. Saturday after a friend of Novoa’s who had been keeping it for him became suspicious because it had been locked for a week.
[...snip...]
The friend opened the freezer, saw the remains and called police.
Lantz said Novoa denied having any knowledge about the freezer, but he had the key to the padlock that was on it."

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) — A man stored his girlfriend’s body in a freezer with the help of another woman, who assumed the dead girlfriend’s life by moving into her home, using her credit cards and caring for her dog, authorities said.

The two were arrested and charged with corpse abuse after the girlfriend’s body was found last weekend in a home near Youngstown. A judge set a $1 million bond on Monday for Katrina Layton, 34, and Arturo Novoa, 31.

RIP Shannon. My deepest sympathies for her loved ones.
