Police continue searching for 4 missing Pennsylvania men, identify ‘person of interest’ in the case

July 11, 2017

The disappearance of four young men last week has touched off an extensive criminal investigation in a picturesque rural area outside of Philadelphia in one of Pennsylvania’s wealthiest counties.

[...]

Bucks County District Attorney Matthew Weintraub said in a news conference Monday that foul play is suspected in the disappearances, and that leads are “incredibly hot.” At a briefing Tuesday, Weintraub said someone in custody on unrelated charges is believed to be a “person of interest” in the case.

The first to go missing, Jimi Tara Patrick, 19, was last seen Wednesday. Then, on Friday, Mark Sturgis, 22; Tom Meo, 21; and Dean Finocchiaro, 18, also vanished. Some or all of the missing men appear to know each other, authorities said. Two of them, Sturgis and Meo, worked together at Sturgis’s father’s construction business.

Sturgis was last seen leaving his house Friday night to visit Meo, Sturgis’s father told NBC 10. When the two men didn’t show up for work Saturday morning, Sturgis’s father, Mark Potash, grew worried, he told the Philadelphia Inquirer.

[...]

Finocchiaro, a mutual friend of Sturgis and Meo, was last seen Friday night getting into a vehicle driven by another individual, who is not missing, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

[...]

Authorities on Monday arrested Cosmo DiNardo, 20, whose family owns the farm, on a previous weapons charge that had initially been dismissed.

Weintraub said Tuesday that DiNardo “is a person of interest in this case,” but he emphasized that there is a big difference between being of interest and being charged with something, noting that the chasm “is so wide that we never cross it” in some cases.

Human remains of 1 of 4 missing Pennsylvania men found, says district attorney
By David Caplan Jul 13, 2017, 12:11 AM ET

Human remains of one of the four missing Pennsylvania men have been found and identified, Bucks County District Attorney Matthew Weintraub said at a press conference early Thursday morning, shortly after midnight.

The remains, found on a sprawling farm in suburban Philadelphia, were those of Dean Finocchiaro, 19 of Middletown, Penn., Weintraub said.

[...]

Weintraub did not mention the three other missing men, but added, "there are additional human remains inside that grave. So this painstaking process will go on. We're not done yet. This is a homicide, make no mistake about it. We just don't know how many homicides, we have yet to know the answer to that questions."

BREAKING: Cosmo DiNardo defense attorney says client confessed to 'participation in murders of four young men

BREAKING: Cosmo DiNardo defense attorney says his client has confessed to "participation in murders of four young men."

Defense attorney Paul Lang wouldn't say if others are involved in the killings, but says the four men who are murdered are the four missing since last week.

Lang says DiNardo's confession comes in exchange for the district attorney's promise not to pursue death penalty.

Seems like SM is suggesting the cancellation of the press update, along with the ambiguity of the future updates may be due to the FBI's increased involvement. Definitely could see more FBI on the ground in the aerials, and this morning they switched to an FBI-specific tip line.

I just don't know what to make of all of this.

CD has access to equipment and likely used it in some capacity his entire life. He definitely did this all solo. Jmo

At the tail end of the last thread someone posted that CD was banned from a college in 2016 because he was a risk to public safety. Wish I had more info on that.

Does CD have access to a wood chipper? I hate to ask but...

Any word yet as to why the 3 PM conference was cancelled? Also, any live feeds going on right now?

You don't think it could be because they are in the final stages of the recovery/identification process and want to focus on this to be able to give a more comprehensive presser later with more answers? I don't know, just speculating.

I'd agree. What I saw at the 11am press conference was a lot of "can't answer" type replies. I'm sure prudent on the DA's part but why draw everyone out again, in 100+ degree heat to go through the same. Especially considering with last night and potential grand jury info, they may most likely be working on formalizing charges.
