Identified! TN - Knoxville, Skeletal remains found in wooded area, Jul'17 - Kyle Pearson

Knox County Regional Forensic Center will test the remains after investigators complete processing the scene.

"It appears there's going to be good dental material available and they'll be able to tell us fairly quickly how long the remains have been out there," MacLean said. "Once we get a closer look we'll be able to tell sex right away."

MacLean says investigators had not approached the remains because of the potential crime scene.

Authorities have tentatively identified the remains, and the family of the deceased has been notified.

The Sheriff's Office is waiting on confirmation from the Knox County Regional Forensic Center.

SOUTH KNOXVILLE - The human remains found in the wooded area behind Montgomery Village on July 15 have been positively identified.
The Knox County Regional Forensics Center has identified the remains as Kyle Matthew Pearson, 32, of Knoxville. The cause of death is still unknown.
