Investigators from the The Champaign County Sheriff's Office have joined in the search for a Tolono woman whose family hasn't heard from her in several days.

Chief Deputy Allen Jones said Tuesday that Misty J. Henderson, 19, of The Oaks, was reported missing to the Tolono police department on Sunday by her mother.

"Right now, we are trying to chase down any leads to try to determine what's going on," Jones said. "I can't say if it's suspicious or not. It's just uncommon for her not to have communication with her family."

Henderson normally lives with her mother but was house-sitting for her aunt on Caroline Street in Homer over the weekend, according to Lt. Curt Apperson, because her aunt has dogs and she was out of town.

"A family friend, a woman, last saw her at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the house where she was house-sitting. They were making plans to go to a church service Sunday morning," Apperson said.

Henderson was last seen wearing a black and yellow "Batman" T-shirt and pink shorts. She is 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighs about 228 pounds. She has brown eyes and blond hair, a scar in her hairline and a scar on her upper right leg about 2 inches long.
