GRANT CO, Ind. (WANE) Human remains that were found near the Mississinewa River in Grant County will be taken to Indianapolis for further study.

Grant County Coroner Chris Butche said someone discovered the top of a skull and a jawbone Wednesday evening and took them to authorities Thursday morning. After looking at the items and consulting with an Indianapolis doctor, they determined that they are, in fact, human remains.

Investigators went back to the south side of the river near the 1200 block of Monroe Pike near Marion, but didn’t find anything else.

“We’re hoping to figure out where the remains came from, but with the river being so up and down this season, it might be difficult,” said Butche.

I am following this thread. I will put this on my list and check for updates.

There is a huge cemetery directly on the other side of the river from where these remains were found. It used to be called I.O.O.F. but I'm not sure if it is still the name or not.
I remember hearing about some shady goings on at that cemetery when I was a kid. Perhap someone did not get buried as they were supposed to???
That river usually floods a couple times a year. These are pretty substantial floods with water levels 10-15 feet higher than normal & running very fast. It's always washing stuff out of the river banks.
It will be interesting to see how this turns out.
