Family, police heighten search for missing 83-year-old man in North York
On Monday evening, police told CP24 they have used “a multitude of resources” searching for the elderly man.

“We’re continuing our search through the night,” Sgt. Craig Young told CP24. “We’ve got several officers out searching actively right now and our plan is to continue that through the night.”
“We’ve basically utilized all of our available resources to support this search and continue to do so.
”

Samantha Martins said the family and police are asking for nearby residents to check the surrounding areas of their homes.

“We are asking the public to please check your sheds, check the backyard, bushes surrounding parks and greenspaces because that’s where he would gravitate to,” she said.

Staff. Sgt. Chris Young told CBC Toronto Martins speaks only Portuguese, likes to frequent cafes and bakeries and is believed to have limited mobility, likely shuffling more than walking.

"This is an emergency," Young said, asking anyone who has seen Martins or someone resembling him to call 911. Police have put all available resources toward the investigation including ATVs, unmanned aircraft and police dogs, he said.

Young said investigators will visit homes in the area bounded by Weston Road to the west, Highway 401 to the north, Jane Street to the east and Lawrence Avenue West to the south. Residents of the area are asked to check inside and outside their property, paying special attention to garden sheds and decks.

"No place is an inopportune location for someone to find themselves," he said.

[h=1]Please help us’: Family of missing elderly man offers reward for information[/h]

“He might’ve gotten up and lost his way and went a totally different direction, that’s what I believe happened,” daughter-in-law Samantha Martins said.

“We’re devastated, we’re worried… This is our fourth day. He needs medication, it’s been hot. So please, if anyone just has five minutes to go outside and look, please help us.”

Investigators obtained some surveillance camera footage Friday afternoon that showed Martins heading west on Gary Drive near Pelmo Park Public School, but that’s the most precise location found thus far.
Taverner said both the family and Toronto police remain hopeful that Martins will be found.
He said the family recently spoke to a psychic who indicated that Martins was alive and possibly near a body of water. While investigators “can’t put a hat on that,” Taverner said it’s a “positive thing” the family has going for them.
“To be very honest, this is very time sensitive and that’s why the family is appealing the way they are,” he said.

Martins was found along the fence line of the Highway 401 near Weston Road, about a 10 minute walk from the family home. He was on the ground and trapped between a fence and a building and could could not get up or move around.

Thanks for posting this absolutely fantastic news, so nice to see a happy outcome in a situation as dire as this one seemed to be!!
