Authorities in southwestern Wyoming are asking for the public’s help in finding a missing man who suffers from Alzheimer’s.

Robert Winters, 82, and his wife were headed home on Interstate 80 to Port Angeles, Washington on Sunday, when they stopped in Wamsutter at about noon.

Winters — who suffers from Alzheimer’s, short-term memory loss and heart problems — reportedly drove off alone, and has not been heard from since.

Sweetwater County Sheriff Mike Lowell says Winters was driving a grey 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche with Washington license plates, reading C64039J.

Winters is described as a white man, six feet tall weighing roughly 175 pounds with grey hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue t-shirt and blue jeans.

Authorities had not distributed a photo of Winters as of 9 p.m. Monday.

Updated info:
Lowell said investigating deputies and the Wyoming Highway Patrol have determined that Winters’s credit card was used late Monday afternoon in southern Idaho along the Interstate 84 corridor. Authorities there have been contacted and are investigating the credit card’s use. It is believed that it may reflect a fuel purchase, as the location is along the normal travel route between Sweetwater County and the Port Angeles area.

Hoping they confirm it is him using the card and he is ok.
