Details of Disappearance
Smiley was last seen at approximately 1:45 p.m. on June 6, 1985 in Atlanta, Georgia. She was seated on a bench outside the Omni International Hotel on Techwood Drive at approximately 2:00 p.m. Smiley's aunt, Estelle Evans, left her and her cousin unattended while she attempted to purchase wrestling tickets a short distance away. Smiley may have walked to a nearby McDonald's restaurant shortly afterwards. When Evans returned, she was gone. Smiley has never been heard from again. An extensive search of the area produced no clues as to her whereabouts. Authorities received a tip that Smiley may have been taken to Lakewood fairgrounds area shortly after her disappearance. No evidence was located at the scene. Smiley's case remains unsolved.

I wonder how old the cousin was at that time? Would he/she remember?

Bumping for Alisha Smiley.

I just blogged about this case. Found some archived articles from the Atlanta Daily World, sorry, no links, got them off ProQuest.

The article from June 16, 1985 states that Alisha's aunt left the 2 children inside the Omni Complex at the bench while she bought tickets (for a wrestling event) at a ticket booth outside the Omni Complex b/c

She said she left the two there in an attempt to let the children cool off. The temperature that day was in the high 90s.

There were extensive searches for Smiley in the days after she disappeared. Including this from another article dated June 11, 1985:

About 150 searchers combed areas around the Omni and adjacent World Congress Center Friday searching for Alisha Smiley

Source: "Child Still Missing." Atlanta Daily World (1932-2003): 1. Jun 11 1985. ProQuest. Web. 2 Jan. 2018 .

The articles don't mention anything being found during these searches. Sadly, I didn't find a lot of info on this case.

From charleyproject

Alisha, was born in Birmingham, Alabama. She had lived with Evans and Evans's husband and children periodically since birth, as her own parents were financially unable to support her. She had been residing with Evans for eight months prior to her June 1985 disappearance. Evans describes her niece as an extremely friendly, trusting toddler.

Authorities received a tip that Alisha may have been taken to Lakewood fairgrounds area shortly after her disappearance. No evidence was located at the scene. Alisha's case remains unsolved.

Makes me wonder how they got that tip. It's possibly that the 3 year old just followed some other kids or adults and ended up there. Or it's just a rumour. It's hard to know. Very little info here.
