Search and rescue operation for US military aircraft under way off Queensland coast

A SEARCH and rescue operation is reportedly under way off the coast after a ‘mishap’ involving a US Marine Corps aircraft.

The MV-22B “Osprey” helicopter is crewed by four people and can carry up to 24 troops seated or 32 troops with the floor space loaded.

THREE people are missing feared dead, and up to 20 have been rescued, some with serious injuries after a US military aircraft went down off Rockhampton tonight
