[h=1]Human remains found in rock quarry in Coeur d'Alene[/h]
Coeur d'Alene police say the department was contacted Sunday about bones found in a quarry on West Kathleen Avenue. Police say two children found the bones and some clothing while exploring.

Children later directed officers to the area where they made the discovery.

Police say detectives located remains that appear to be human and that they appear to have been there for a significant amount of time.

do they mean years and years or months? what about Michael bullinger? but im not sure he would be completely skeletal, although its possible if it were hot and animal activity.

Susan Powell? Is this near the route from West Valley City, Utah to the Powell family sites in Washington?

Maybe? It would depend on where in Washington he was going .If he went up I-15 through Idaho and took I-90 through Montana and over Lolo Pass toward Spokane, he'd go right through Coeur d'Alene. It would be the long way around for anything in the western part of Washington, though. https://goo.gl/maps/jKPvVboD8z32

(The quarry really isn't very far off I-90 either, but it doesn't look like the kind of place you'd find by accident.)

Thanks for checking!

IMHO any route chosen would also be weather-dependent. Which roads were open, drive-able during the time frame of any disappearance?

That's the main east-west highway for the entire northern tier, so if it's closed, nobody is going anywhere :)

I can't remember any particularly noteworthy disappearances along that area recently. My guess would be that it's somebody local.

Your guesses are often accurate. We will wait (im)patiently for news....

More Info on Quarry Bones - September 18th

Human remains found in a Coeur d’Alene rock quarry earlier this month are from a man who was more than 30 years old and who had poor dental hygiene, Coeur d’Alene Police said Friday.

“We were unable to tell if the body was put there or died there,” Coeur d’Alene Police Detective Jared Reneau said.

Police say the bones appear to have been there for a significant amount of time, at least a year, maybe two.

The Coeur d’Alene Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying human remains that were discovered in September.

The department was contacted Sept. 3 about bones found in a quarry, east of Ramsey Elementary School on West Kathleen Avenue, belonging to Central Premix.

Police said two children were exploring when they found old articles of clothing along with the bones in a bed of weeds, which included a skull with missing teeth. The skull was not fractured.

The remains had been in the quarry for approximately two to three years.

Detectives have been able to determine the remains belonged to a man between 30 and 50 years old. The man had a small-to-average build and was missing several teeth. Additionally, one top front tooth was turned sideways.

The clothing found with the remains includes a dark-colored Nike T-shirt and tan and brown Russell brand athletic-type shorts.

Details BBM.

Found two guys missing from Montana that might fit this UID:
Daniel Thomas - https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/18920/24
Richard Gillen, Jr. - https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/28206/26

Thanks KaylaraOwl! Richard looks like a good one to submit, if you feel so inclined.

They didn't say in the article an estimated the height of the UID but they said he had a small to average build which made me think "not tall". Daniel was 6 ft 2 inch. Richard was about 5 ft 6 in, which seems closer to average. JMO. Richard also looks like he may have some crooked top teeth, though it is hard to tell from the small picture. Here is a side-by-side:

Richard was also the one I thought was more likely especially because of his slight stature.
Daniel looked facially similar and the circumstances of his disappearance might put him going down into that area. There's a road straight into Coeur d'Arlene from Missoula, MT.

I sent a message with both of them to the CDA police. We'll see if it goes anywhere.
