DNA from both a Salina man who was killed and his accused killer was found in blood stains collected from the pocket of the accused murderer’s pants and on a piece of gum found between the back seat and the rear passenger door of a silver 2003 Lincoln Town Car, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Saline County District Court.

The affidavit, written by law enforcement officers, details the evidence supporting the arrest of Leobardo Velasquez, 38, of Salina, in connection with the September murder of Raul Lopez-Vargas...

An autopsy revealed that Lopez-Vargas had suffered more than 108 injuries that included scrapes, marks and stab wounds. About 100 stab wounds were found on his head, face and hands.
