Marciano Sakhoeun, 17, a St. Helens High School student, was last seen walking away from his home on Firlock Park Boulevard at 11 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18. His parents said they haven't heard from him since.
Toby Carlson and Kimberlee Carlson, Sakhoeun's dad and step-mom, filed a missing persons report with the St. Helens Police Department Saturday, Oct. 21, after the teen didn't show up for school Thursday or Friday.
Police Chief Terry Moss said he believe that there is any foul play in this case, but noted it is unusual for a teen to not return home or at least make contact with his or her family, even in runaway cases.
"On the surface everything suggests that this is a runaway
but what makes this case remarkable is that typically we see these young people return in a day or two, and we don't have that here," Moss said.
Toby Carlson said since Sakhoeun was last seen, the family has discovered some emotional notes that he wrote, and the family is primarily concerned with his health and safety at this point.
A search for the teen occurred Wednesday night, Oct. 25.
Sakhoeun recently enlisted in the Marine Corps. The family said the boy has never behaved like this before and did not seem to be troubled the night he was last seen.
Sakhoeun was last seen wearing a dark hood, blue jeans and black athletic shoes. He was also carrying a U.S. Marine Corps lanyard with keys attached to them.
"Police are looking for information about where he might be. Naturally the family just wants to know that he's OK," Moss added.
