If this is in the wrong place, I apologize. My friend's mother in law was a foster parent and had 2 of Sarah's brothers for a while after Sarah was murdered. I don't know where the other child was. Both boys came to visit my friend the other day when they were around for the trial. Fortunately, they grew into respectable, decent men. One of them is in the military.

Piggott Man Convicted of Lesser Charge in Toddler's Death, May Not Return to Prison

PARAGOULD, AR - A Piggott man has been convicted a second time in the 1989 death of his girlfriend's two-year-old daughter, but on a lesser second-degree murder charge. The result may be that David Houston Reagan goes free because he served 13 years of an earlier first-degree sentence.
Reagan's conviction on the more serious charge was overturned in 2004 by a federal appeals court, which said jurors were given a wrong instruction by the judge in the earlier trial.

Reagan was convicted of killing Sarah Binkard, who died November 27, 1989.

Both defense attorney Lea Ellen Fowler and Prosecutor Brent Davis say they do not expect Reagan to be returned to prison.

Well now this is just sick. How happy I am for the killer's "son" that his murdering father is/has been a free man. NOT. He should be thankful it wasn't him who was beaten to death. I just cannot believe that this man has been free for a while now, and will remain free. He killed a baby girl! I just don't understand.

Murder verdict reduced

PARAGOULD -- A Greene County jury convicted David Houston Reagan of second-degree murder late Wednesday afternoon in the case of a 2-year-old who died in 1989.

Reagan, 49, was on trial for first-degree murder in the death of 2-year-old Sarah Binkard. At the time of the girl's death Reagan was involved in a romantic relationship with the girl's mother. The three lived together at a house in Pollard with the girl's three brothers.

The toddler died as a result of blunt force trauma which caused a tear in the child's intestine.

The Juror's were stooped. I hope they have nightmares when they find out they were inadequate. An hour & a half, shame on them. They obviously weren't listening to the Coroner's testimony. He described torture being delved out on this poor child of 2 years old, cigarette burns to the feet. Weren't any leaders in that group & certainly no common sense. Shame on the Prosecutor for seating a leaderless Jury. The Judge should have given out an appropriate sentence, did he?

My friend told me last night that her MIL DID have all 3 boys for a while. Zach, the youngest boy, was 3 and was hiding under the bed when this monster was hitting Sarah that night. Friends MIL adopted the older 2 boys. Zach was adopted by a Jonesboro family. Friend told me he is really screwed up in the head and has a lot of emotional problems. She said when the Westside school shooting happened, her first thought was that it was Zach who did it, that's how bad his life has been ruined from that *advertiser censored*. Yet this despicable scum is free. I don't get it.

PARAGOULD, AR – A judge has ordered the release of a Piggott man who has been convicted a second time of killing a two-year-old girl in 1989.

It’s a murder verdict changed. In 1990 a Greene County jury found David Houston Reagan guilty of first degree murder of Sarah Binkard. He served over 14 years in prison and was released a year and a half ago. But because of an error a federal judge ruled that the case should be retried and Wednesday, a new verdict of second degree murder was handed down.

Reagan was back in the courtroom for sentencing Thursday despite suffering through a bad case of food poisoning. As expected he was released after previously serving 14 years for first degree murder. It's a something Reagan and his family are finally glad to have behind him.
