Rebecca was 5ft 8in, slim and had mousy brown, curly hair at the time she went missing.

Rebecca used to go to the former Chapter School, in Strood, and was a mum of one. She was close to her family and had a passion for horses.

In 2005 in an emotional appeal, Ms Carr's mother Lynn Simmonds said she was devastated by the disappearance and just wanted to know what had happened.

Ms Carr, who had gone missing before, was last seen in Beatty Avenue, Gillingham, where she had been staying.

Rebecca was 22 and living with her son and partner, Gary, Tyler's dad, when she disappeared.

Two days earlier, Rebecca and Gary arrived at Lynne's house to pick up their son in happy, vibrant moods.

Unknown to Lynne, it was to be the last time she would see her daughter.

The day she vanished, Rebecca called her grandparents asking for a lift to Gillingham. They dropped her off - Tyler stayed with Gary - and she hasn't been seen since.

"I reported her missing to the police," says Lynne. "But it's as though Rebecca simply disappeared off the face of the earth that afternoon.

"No-one has reported seeing her."
---
Rebecca gave no indication to either family or friends that she had any intention of walking out on her life. The police told Rebecca's family in 2005 that she was now missing, presumed dead.

Slightly different details

Published 6 May 2006 - Rebecca Carr went missing in Gillingham in 2002. She was 22. She was last seen at a nearby hotel, the King Charles. She left behind her son, who was then three years old

Lynne, Rebecca's mother: "Last November it was three years since Rebecca had disappeared and the police came to tell me they don't think she's with us any more. That was a big blow. They've had a lot of leads, and there have been stories that she may have been killed, but there's been no body. That's what keeps me going. They've arrested people, but they've never got to the bottom of it. There's no proof. She could still be out there somewhere.

ANNIVERSARY APPEAL – REBECCA CARR

Rebecca Carr (also known as Rebecca Simmonds) was 22yrs old when she went missing on 25 November 2002 after her grandparents dropped her off near Gillingham railway station. She is 5ft 8in, of slim build and had mousy brown long curly hair at the time she disappeared. She had been living at Beatty Avenue with friends. Her mum, Lynne Simmonds still lives in the family home in Bingham Road, Frindsbury, near Strood.

Rebecca was a mum to a three year old son, Tyler and was very close to her family, especially her mum, her sister Laura and her grandparents. She is a former pupil of Chapter School, in Strood, and Kent Police and her mum regularly appeal to her friends to come forward if they know anything. Since she disappeared, her sister has raised about £2,000 fundraising for Missing People charity.

Despite exhaustive searches and enquiries, no trace of Rebecca has been found since she disappeared. Over the years sightings have been reported, but none have been corroborated. Her family have resigned themselves to the fact she may not be alive and this is also the conclusion of the police. However, until a body is found, there is still hope.

If you have any information, please contact Kent Police on 101. If you would prefer to remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on ‪0800 555 111‬ or use their online reporting service. Is there any confirmation that she met those friends? And was she living with friends or Gary? I see conflicting reports online..
