BANGOR, Calif. - The Butte County Sheriff's Office is investigating human remains that were found in Bangor, Friday, and they said they are considering the death suspicious.
Officials said at about 2:30 p.m., a Bangor resident found the human remains on a property near Upham Road. Detectives responded to the area and with assistance from Butte County Sheriff Search and Rescue volunteers, they were able to find all the remains.
It appears the body had been in the location for several months, according to officials. The remains are being sent to the Department of Justice and the Chico State Department of Anthropology for further identification.
Officials said due to the advanced state of decomposition, the cause of death remains undetermined.
