The Sterling Police Department has issued a missing person alert for 88-year-old Wilton Swires.

The Sterling man was last seen Tuesday morning leaving Key Bank in Sterling. According to the alert, Swires planned to go have coffee with friends at a location two blocks from the bank, but he never arrived.

Swires suffers from Alzheimer's disease and needs medication, the SPD said.

Swires is described as a white man standing 6 feet tall and weighing about 200 pounds. He is balding with gray hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a light blue shirt and tan pants and may have on a hat that says, "Which way am I going?"

Swires drives a blue 2002 Ford Windstar that has a gray stripe down the side and a bumper sticker reading "We support our President." He could be headed toward Akron or Otis.

Looks like he has been having problems driving earlier this year (Jan 9th accident report). Hoping he has just lost his way and will be found soon. I feel such sympathy for people suffering such a horrible disease. But, we are hearing of just so many stories just like this..IMO...

Yes, it is so hard to take away the keys from an aging family member whether they have dementia or not. Moo

Thank God he was found, I live here and did not even hear about it....my heart just skipped a beat, so happy they found him.....
