RUTLAND, Vt.
Multiple agencies are searching for a missing psychiatric patient in Rutland.
Police said Robert Ettori, 20, was a patient at Rutland Regional Medical Center's psychiatric unit.
He was scheduled for an evaluation Wednesday morning for delusional thoughts but refused it.
Ettori escaped from the facility about 10:55 a.m.
He was last seen entering the woods near Perkins Road.
Police said Ettori was only wearing boxer shorts.
He was described as 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing about 135 pounds.
Vermont State Police and the Vermont Army National Guard were assisting with the search.
K9s and helicopters were also involved.
Investigators are concerned for Ettori's well being because of falling temperatures and the possibility for snow showers.
The temperature in Rutland Wednesday afternoon was about 38 degrees.
Police said if he gets out of the woods, Ettori may attempt to steal a vehicle to flee the area or enter a home in an attempt to get warm.
Doctors said Ettori was mentally ill and poses a danger to himself and others. He should be admitted immediately to a hospital for emergency evaluation.
The hospital refused to release additional information about the situation.
Anyone who sees Ettori should call police immediately at 802-773-1816.
