Has a groundbreaking drug trial found a cure for Huntington's? Researchers correct the defect that causes the devastating disease in the 'biggest breakthrough in 50 years

A cure for Huntington's disease could be in the pipeline following the results of a groundbreaking new drug trial.

For the first time, scientists have been able to correct the defect that is responsible for the devastating neurodegenerative disease.

The results, hailed as the 'biggest breakthrough in 50 years', saw 46 patients of the incurable disease given an experimental drug.

Sorry for my belated response....but I wanted to acknowledge that this is great news! Thanks for posting!

I am not convinced. It would have to be gene therapy. Huntingtons disease is caused by the right leg of the fourth chromosome. So presumably any cure would have to result in replacing the faulty fourth chromosome - if that was possible.
