North Troy, Vt. - Vermont State Police says officials have been notified about a missing woman out of North Troy.

Authorities say they were contacted by Kayla Delzio's family, who said she had not been seen or heard from since Thursday. Police went to Delzio's home and tried to call her, as of 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, she has not been found.

Officials say she is believed to be in Caledonia or Orleans Counties in Vt. or N.H. Anyone with information is asked to call the Derby Barracks at 802-334-8881.

Vermont State Police say Kayla Delzio, 28, called her parents Thursday and made plans to visit for Christmas. Police say Delzio's boyfriend, Michael Newton, has a warrant out for his arrest on an assault charge and they believe she and the kids may be with him.

Investigators aren't sure if the couple is hiding out. They say there has been activity on Delzio's cellphone and Facebook page. Police want to make sure she and the children are safe.

Delzio's parents tell WCAX News Newton is abusive and they believe their daughter and grandchildren are in grave danger.

"We believe that she is being held hostage. She was supposed to be here Christmas Eve and she never showed up. Our daughter has never done this before," Scottie Reynard said.

Police found Delzio and her boyfriend, Michael Newton, on Wednesday just before 9 p.m. in Barnet, Vt. A welfare check found Delzio and her children were not in danger. Authorities say Delzio also indicated she wished to stay, and did not indicate any of them were being held against their will.
